So the reservoir and pump are in the bottom section? I'd be delighted to see "behind the scenes" on how all that was set up.

I'll likely stick with Ubuntu. But I end up using the Arch wiki a lot for documentation on things like bcache. :-)

I wanted to leave some space for a Windows install later on if I decide to do that. I figured that 50GB of cache would be enough for 3 or more games to stay in cache, so the load times would be quick.

I was also thinking about experimenting with SteamOS, but after reading about it further, it seems that just going with the most recent Ubuntu release was the better route.

I was careful. For these 4-pin molex connectors not at the end of the cable, there are actually two wires crimped onto each socket pin. One goes downstream to the next power connector, the other goes upstream to the power supply. I carefully cut each downstream wire inside the molex connector shell. So there's no exposed conductor, and no risk of a short.
