Comment reply on Forum Topic "I just bought a puppy. Help!"

We fed our puppy four times a day. We took him out after every feeding. And about once an hour if they're a super young puppy, because they're going to pee a lot.

Then as he got older, three times. Eventually planned to do two but we haven't yet. Two is pretty standard for a dog. Obviously you reduce the amount in each serving if you're going to do extra feedings.

We didn't use pads, can't help you there. IMO if you train them to use pads, but you want them to go outside as an adult, you're making extra work for yourself training them OFF the pads later.

This is it right here.

Rational/limited selfishness is necessary and good. Like you have to put on your oxygen mask before you put on your childs. It's when selfishness turns to greed, or to a lack of empathy for others, that you have a problem.

Got a new job offer in mid March, and I accepted it. It comes with a big pay increase and a change of scenery after nearly 5 years in the current role. But... due to coronavirus they don't know how to onboard me lol. They assure me the job is still going to be mine but they are just trying to figure out how to do onboarding right now with their offices closed.

Thankfully, I never gave notice at old job, and am still working. My GF is still working too as she was already remote anyways. So that is good. I am getting some extra work from home experience now.

I've also been back to food tracking since Jan and have lost weight, so that is cool too. edit oh yeah and I finally bought a soundbar for the tv. Wow what an improvement my movie and TV experience is now! Just in time for quarantine lol.

USA coronavirus deaths have tripled in 5 days (from just over 1K on the 25th to over 3K as of yesterday the 30th) so, it's really WAY too early to be making guesses like this.

Well nothing really has changed for me because I am still going to work. Just can't go to restaurants or movies or anything now.

It did lead to my buying Super Mario Maker 2 last Saturday though, since my GF and I have been indoors more (and she's going a bit stir crazy since she's already home all the time). We found a good creator and played some courses together. I made three courses of my own on Sunday.

I think I might get her Animal Crossing, too.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "How to Build a Credit Score?"

  • 2 points

Like most people are saying, literally just use it. Then pay it off. Don't carry a balance, never be late. Your score will build naturally.

Also never close any cards, closing credit lines just hurts your credit history. Try to keep them from being auto-closed by the bank too. If you have a CC you aren't using anymore, just go pay for gas or something with it like once a year. Pay it off immediately. Forget about it until next year. The bank won't close it if there is a use but if you let it sit for a few years unused they will close your credit line.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox One X - overheating - RMA?"

It's incredibly unusual for a game to cause a console shutdown, but not unheard. Sometimes games ship with wild bugs.

So rma or not:)?

I already said, no, I wouldn't RMA the console for an incredibly rare crash in a single game. But I could change my mind if I found it happening more frequently, or in other games.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Red Dead Redemption (1)"

  • 2 points

You could grab an Xbox 360 for like $40-$80 off eBay. Here is a listing that is currently at $61 and it has Red Dead Redemption included lol. Ends later today.

Or else you could try emulation. PS3 and Xbox 360 emulation is still in early days, relatively speaking. I've never tried them.

RDR1 was an amazing game, one of the best I ever played on my 360 when I had it. I put a lot of hours into that one, mostly just goofing off, playing cards, lassoing ******** and dragging them around... It is Xbox One X Enhanced so they either upped the resolution or the frame rate or both if you play it on an Xbox One X.

I haven't had a chance to try RDR2 yet, probably won't for awhile at my pace. I still haven't even played Witcher 3 lol.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Xbox One X - overheating - RMA?"

It has only happened twice, and only for one game? I wouldn't jump to an RMA yet. Sounds like a weird bug in the game, maybe. I would wait for more info before doing an RMA. A quick Google search shows that similar problems have occurred to people.

How many hours have you played Division 2 on the console? What about other games?

Apparently it is not (or rarely) enforced. From the article:

...having more than one nationality in Japan is a gray area. Although the Nationality Law says all dual nationals must choose to be either Japanese or foreign at 22, and that those who continue to hold dual nationality risk losing their Japanese citizenship, that threat has never been carried out: No dual national has ever been stripped of their Japanese citizenship for not renouncing another status before the age of 22.

What this means is that there are hundreds of thousands — estimates go as high as 700,000 — of dual citizens in Japan, many of whom are 22 and older and are therefore flouting the law.

I should ask my cousins about it. My aunt is Japanese, uncle is American.

My job is running on minimal staff. The grocery stores have been kind of whack this past weekend. Mostly my life hasn't changed much by it so far. They may be cancelling or rescheduling the race I have been training for though (it is end of April, they said they would be making a decision next Monday), and the 50K this month that my girlfriend was training for got cancelled.

Oh well, I get to stay home and grind out some Warzone. :)

Apparently the Fortnite playerbase shot up in Italy this past weekend lol.

Also it's not influenza. Just has similar-ish symptoms.

No I don't think it is being blown out of proportion. 3% sounds like a small percentage, but it is relative. Every 1% of the US population is over 3 million people. If this was not such a contagious disease then I would agree it is overblown, but it is clearly spreading rapidly.

Yes I do think that people are buying things in a stupid way.

Most fictional worlds are full of conflict and often wildly unstable. Conflict tends to make things interesting to read/watch/play. Lots of them don't make any sense, and once you start to rationalize them, get very scary very quick (I am looking at you, Pokemon!).

Many of the worlds listed in this thread would be awful to live in for the vast majority of people. Like it is tempting to say Star Wars because it is cool and I love it, but trillions of people get blown up by things they can't even see, and without a second thought, in that universe. To say nothing of the highly unstable government, fascist organizations running rampant, criminal enterprises running entire star systems, horrific poverty and income inequality, slavery, racism, etc. It has every problem our world has but x10,000. Am I going to be one of the lucky few to be born with Force powers? Is that even a good thing? I get to be raised in a dogmatic cult, and later hunted down and murdered for it? Star Wars life is brutal. The best you can hope for is to get born into a moderately-wealthy-but-boring family on a stable planet... and then hope it isn't Alderaan or one of the others that were blown up just to make a point.

I guess if I had to choose one, it would be Star Trek? Seems like living post-scarcity and post-money would be cool.

The world of Altered Carbon (just going off the show here, I haven't read the books) would be kind of dope though. Again, assuming you weren't born poor (hey just like IRL). I mean being able to swap bodies, back up your consciousness, live basically forever, travel the stars, learn everything, experience other people's memories, seems pretty rad.

But joining the world of Skyrim would also require money. You would need some job there, too. And there is a world to explore IRL already. It would just dramatically increase your chances of being eaten by a frost troll.

Because it is more versatile. Apple has made great efforts towards retrofitting the iPad into a productivity device but you're still at the mercy of their app store at the end of the day. It's still a really big smartphone first. The Surface Pro is better because you are getting all of what Windows supports, and Linux too if you choose. It's a PC first.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Sweet Dreams are made of this or these?"

What made it funny was that he made it plural in the first place. Anything that can be referenced by "those" generally can be referenced by "these".

"I would like those apples." "Which ones, these apples?" "Yes those."

"Which of those experiences make up your sweet dreams?" "These experiences in particular are the ones that make my sweet dreams."

Despite insisting on asking "what are these", he then listed "those experiences", which would answer his own question.

You can view the results by county here if you click on Nevada. Yes Bernie won Clark County (Las Vegas), Carson City, and Washoe County (Reno), but he also won Churchill, Humboldt, Storey, Lyon, Elko, White Pine, Eureka, Lander, and Esmeralda. He won the vast majority of the whole state. In the five counties he lost, he was very close to the leader in votes, with the exception of Pershing County.

Sure sounds like your GPU is toast, since you were able to use onboard GPU and your PC is otherwise behaving fine. I'm not sure what other tests you can perform.

Keep the old card on hand while you replace it. If your replacement doesn't work either for some reason, then you can suspect the GPU wasn't the problem. And you can return the new card, if you want, while you continue to troubleshoot.
