I know what you mean by the normal cooler running hotter, i have two in my build in sli and i see the top card running around 5c hotter but a new case that has better airflow would help a lot, with the side panel on my case (i usually run without it) my cards are around 80c and the second card around 75c. You said that your cards run around the same temps but what is that?

Whats wrong with the 24pin cable, i think it looks great! I don't believe the longer cable would affect the airflow at the psu shroud, if i'm being honest the only thing i would think about changing would be the silver on the aio, painting it something like black so it doesn't stand out as much.

They look good for the most part, I would make sure to get some cable combs to go along with them, they will not look as "full" as nice custom ones and you will have a harder time with cable management cause of the longer cables. If you want you can look at my build linked here as I went with a cheap cablemod kit that was $40 and came with cable combs if you want an idea on how they might look.

Where are you looking? When looking on ebay you have to factor in 10% fees. I look on /reddit/harwareswap and all these prices are accurate. Edit heres a link to someone selling that motherboard and a 5820k for $200 and $100, most people will sell for lower if you bundle items and cause these haven't sold they will also go lower on the price, if you want more proof of these prices just look on there yourself.

This is how the system would be priced out if someone was to sell it piece by piece on something like ebay after the 10% fee, or reddit hardwareswap. I would price the system at around $800

Mine was the one fan "gaming" model which only has something like a intel stock cooler. If you go to completed builds with a 480 you can see when you click on someones build under all the parts it will say "gpu temp under load" and most builds i could find where around 75c so you should be fine.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Fractal Design Define Nano S - GPU Airflow issues?"

I still think it will run under 84c. If i was op i would message people on here that have built in the nano s using a dual fan 480, and see what they have experienced. Just from looking at a few builds i was able to find that people where seeing temps and the mid 70's, but im not sure at what fan speed.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Fractal Design Define Nano S - GPU Airflow issues?"

Don't worry about it, you said the 480 has two fans, install a fan under the gpu and your temps will be fine. I built in the case and even with a single fan 1060 with a really bad cooler temps are around mid 70's.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is 750W enough to power two R9 390s?"

  • 1 point

I feel 750w would be pushing it too much, I currently have a 750w good quality psu and was thinking of getting two 980ti’s (250w each) so 500w total and most people told me that I would need a bigger power supply. Any reason you want to go with two 390’s? A used gtx 1080 can be bought for under $400 and will cost around the same while only being one card so you don’t have to upgrade your psu and deal with crossfire.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Is 750W enough to power two R9 390s?"

  • 1 point

Well what other parts are in the build? 750w is pushing it a lot, each r9 390 can consume up to 300w so 600w total, that plus your 8350 (im guessing this cause that's what's in your completed build) would be 725 watts alone without anything else, something like a 850w or even a 1000w is what i would buy if you really want to 390's but at that point something like a 1080 would cost around as two 390 ($200 each plus a $100 psu) if you are still using the 8350 imo you should really focus on upgrading that first.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "I think my Video Card is failing."

  • 1 point

What is the exact psu you have (manufacture), can you link me where to buy it? From what I can find the minimum requirement for a 390x would be a 600w psu as the card can pull over 300w alone. I would first try to test the Gpu in a different computer and if possible get a new psu ASAP unless the one you have is a really good quality unit. If you find the Gpu doesn’t work in a different pc or the new psu doesn’t fix it then I would look into rma’ing it to Asus.

Vagabond139 all ready covered the links to good places to learn so i will skip that. A good start would be to post what the computers spec's are so you can figure out if you can reuse any of the parts, most people will be helpful here and feel free to ask any questions. A few normal questions when helping chose parts for people here are what country do you currently live in or where would you buy the parts? In your $600 (usd?) budget does that include a monitor, keyboard, and mouse? What would you like to play those games at (like 1080p, 60fps, medium settings). And most important (imo) for a budget build, do you live near a microcenter? They have amazing prices on cpu's and motherboards which would help a lot for any budget build.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "What situations would 16 gb ram be good for?"

  • 1 point

Unless you really can't afford it go with 16gb, i play Escape From Tarkov and it usually sits around 12gb to 14gb (i know for a fact Eft will need more than 8gb unless you want to have a memory cleaner open, check the reddit), with just the game, discord and msi afterburner open. From my experience most games will use more than 8gb if available, another game i play Rust would often get closed by windows when i had 12gb due to not enough ram and is why i got more. I personally believe 16gb is necessary for gaming after my experience unless you really can't afford it.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "1080 FE Temps 'high'"

Be careful with water cooling, it starts out with just thinking about build a simple cooling loop, then you add gpu's and some extra fittings and the price really starts to ad up, i would love to watercool my self but the price is just so high compared to my build itself. Check out Reddit/Watercooling and i'm sure someone there could answer any questions you might have.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "1080 FE Temps 'high'"

  • 1 point

As others have stated your temps are high but not unusual, installing something like msi afterburner (what i use) should help and you could set a temp limit to help also (this would decrease your performance by down clocking the card and thus reducing the heat output). One other thing you could look into would be replacing the thermal paste, i cant speak for everyone but when i had a founders 1070 i replaced it with ic diamond and got temps around 5c lower, i would only do this if you feel comfortable with taking the heat sink off of the card though. Also if you have not done this yet you could lower the second gpu to the lower slot like This build, from my experience with a sli build it's your top card that's running hotter and moving the card down will give it more space to breath (msi afterburning will show you which card is running hotter).

Comment reply on Forum Topic "What’s the difference between those two video card?"

The manufacture and the cooler; do research on both of the card like: hows the warranty through that card, does the cooler it uses keep it cooler and silent, which one do you like the look of better, etc. $454 cad seems high for that card, i'd look at different models like the Strix, windforce, g1 gaming, evga gaming, and find out what you like with a gpu and chose the one you want.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Battle of the 1080s"

Could be, personally i'd rather it be that than owning a card that doesn't have good warranty and have to wait a month to get it back, but also could be cause people who end up needing there service are so astonished with it.
