I'll probably get blasted for this, but they spent more on RAM and graphics than they should have. And that PSU will be under 90% load at all times... If you want to build a Steam Box, make your own custom cases in the form of a testbench and put a case around it. Take a Testbench like this one > http://pcpartpicker.com/part/diypc-case-alphagt3 and put a case around it. In the end, aren't Steam Boxes -boxes-? I don't think an HTPC case looks very box-y honestly. Companies should start innovating instead of taking pre-existing technology, rebranding it, and putting it in a ****** small case with ****** ventilation. But my point is that these small boxes, bad air flow, and explosive PSU loads will more than likely ruin your investment in a good home entertainment system.

Nevermind the previous estimate of $425, a R9 280x is $530 from a local NZ retailer. just wow. It's weird that it is only $410 even though the two countries are so close together. Gotta love tariffs and planned obsolescence gais

But instead of spending $325 on an outdated card, you could spend $375 on a new one. Maybe $425 depending on your currency. Anyway, you should buy some Litecoins right now seeing as their price is pretty stable at the moment. Just saying.

Tl;dr I have a kind of old system but still get by pretty decently. And disc drives that cost over $35 aren't worth it for the 5 times you'll use it

Yah, that disc drive is way too much. Same with the aftermarket heatsink. It's bigger and better than my Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO and my CPU is overclocked to 4.5 ghz. If you don't plan on crazy video editing you shouldn't require 16gb of RAM. Just get your SSD and allocate it for virtual RAM or something. Idunno, but 8gb is enough RAM for pretty much everyone. I run dual GTX 460's, i5 2500k, 8gb ram, 1tb Seagate HDD 32mb cache 7200 rpm, 700w psu, $20 disc drive, MSI P67A-GD65 ATX LGA1155 mobo, 23" LG LCD 1080p monitor and get 45 fps on Hitman Absolution on ultra.

Anyway, if you put less money towards an uber 1337 disc drive, case, and mobo you could have purchased an R9 280x or a GTX 760.

Sorry to say, but the case is pretty ricer. That's about all of my problems with it though. Pretty ****** awesome first build man. How does it stack against an 15 3570 with a 7850. I want to save some money.

Ant stop laughing at how you ignored the benchmarks for cpus, mobos, gpus and such. Price vs performance, id go with an i5 any day.
