For an extra 50$ you could go for a Ryzen 7 2700 for a total of 8 cores.

Hey check if your motherboard bios switch is in slow mode.

Here is a link to the manual and on page 45 there is a slow boot switch. It is at the bottom of your motherboard next to the power button.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Anyone switching to the next consoles when they are released?"

  • 1 point

Even if the next gen consoles out perform my PC it doesn't change the fact the consoles lack proper modding support. My two favorite games Minecraft and Monster Hunter World have a very extensive selection of mods on the PC which is honestly the only reason I still enjoy them. There is no "killing" the PC market with better hardware. The PC platform will always be more flexible than the consoles and that is what will keep people on it.

Computex is where all the big name companies like AMD, Intel and NVidia will be announcing anything they have. But that's on May 28 and they usually just announce a product, scheduling for it to be releases a couple months later. You're looking at either buying now or waiting 2 months to see if you want to wait another couple months for a new product.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "Radeon VII"

  • 2 points

In some memory heavy applications the Radeon VII can beat the 2080 TI but in gaming, it consistently sits in between an RTX 2070 and RTX 2080. I think the card has its place in the market as an alternative to NVidia's offerings but the features of the Radeon VII simply lack in comparison to NVidia's ray-tracing and DLSS.

Do keep in mind that this is just a MI50 rebrand and not AMD's real response to NVidia's RTX 2000 series. This card is nothing more than a failed MI50 trying to reduce losses. But in the end, something is better than nothing and while I would probably recommend the RTX 2080 over this for pure gaming people who have memory intensive workloads can see huge benefits from the Radeon VII.

Comment reply on Forum Topic "RX580 or NVIDIA 1060 based on new freesync support?"

  • 1 point

Nvidia is starting to support freesync but it doesn't work with many monitors. The 580 is also cheaper and performs within 1-2% of the gtx 1060 6gb. Also buying based on power and heat is a bit ridiculous in my opinion if you aren't doing a small form factor build.

Is 32gb really needed or I can go away with 16gb as well?

You could get away with 16 gb but if you bought a 2x8gb kit you would be locked onto 16gb unless you by a whole new kit.

Would the extra money be worth it for the 9700k?

The 9700k won't perform as close to the 2700x when in this form factor due to thermal limitations.

Is there anything that I need to be cautious about between a Mini ITX Motherboard/ Build compared to a bigger size/ normal build? are there any limitations to these small systems?

Smaller system usually have thermal issues but if you make sure the air holes for the components aren't on the floor it should be fine.

On average the 390x is just a little behind the rx 580. However I would consider going for a used rx 570 or rx 580 as it is a newer card around the same priced when used.

1070 ti is over a year old now so $335 isn't out of the ball park. Also looking at sold listings it isn't at all uncommon to see a 1070 ti sold for around 300$ so I think you're good. The seller seems to be of good standing and isn't a new account so I would go for it.

Navi is the code name for AMD's upcoming graphics chip. Zen 2 is for the new AMD CPUs. The key word you have in your topic is "Supposedly" as in no one really knows what the specs are for the newest AMD product. I would wait until benchmarks or at the very least wait until AMD comes out with concrete information reguarding their release of Zen 2.

Nope. Very, very few laptops offer GPU upgrades and when they do they are about $300 more than a desktop version of the card. For example, the Alienware 17 has an option to upgrade to a GTX 1060 for $579.

The $150 price difference only goes down to $120 between the 1700x and 2700x in a MicroCenter. I would still strongly suggest you go with the 1700x and put $150 dollars towards something like a larger ssd or better vega gpu.
