I mean there's less than a 10% performance delta in games, and I don't think that's enough to warrant a 100$ price hike. To each their own I suppose.

Not hating on Intel, but genuine question, why buy the 8600k when you can buy the 1600x for 100$ cheaper, get a b350 board for cheaper, and put the money toward a better gpu or just pocket the cash? Regardless, still a nice build.

I absolutely love older builds. Older tech is one of the things I'm passionate for. One question though, the Idle temps seem a bit high, are you sure it's being monitored correctly? And does the CPU fan have enough thermal paste on it? +1 c:

"I went with Nvidia because they supposedly have better driver support than AMD" AMD has definitely ironed out their driver issues. I'm using a 380x and it's magnificent. They fixed their issues within the release of the Crimson drivers. Just wanted to give you a heads up :)

Lovely build, my friend is currently trying to build something similar to this, except he went with a 950. +1

Hey! Sorry for replying so late, I haven't checked PCP in a while. No I haven't tried OC'ing yet, because I want to break in the components first if that makes sense. But potentially I will OC them soon. I know MSI Afterburner can let you change voltages and frequencies. I will get back to you with the answer when I do happen to OC.

Yes, yes I am. Tearing through every game I own, it's so glorious. Everyone thinks the 960 is the best bang for buck, but really the 380x takes that place. It's the same price as a 380, maybe 10$ more, but has better performance. AMD really outdid themselves with this one. nVidia should've release a 960 ti or something to break the 200 - 300$ gap, that would've sold it for me probably, but luckily AMD had exactly what I was looking for.

It's just the fact that they can get away with selling their CPU's for twice/3x AMD and everybody still buys it (guilty) which, it's not their fault AMD goofed. I've been with Intel on every single computer I've had and they've always been relatively slow until now. PLUS I always support the underdog, which AMD has been that for a while now. And the only thing that got me to buy Intel is how strong their cores are because most things I do only use ~2 cores.

I'm not completely sure, I've only used Win10 for 2 days now, and I find it nice. It could just be that Skylake and Windows are in a state of immaturity so they don't collaborate together too well. That's one of the more strange things I've heard. I think it's a mix of both to blame.

It is definitely not something to look down upon. The I5 is such a beast. I've never had a true quad core. I've only had single, and dual core cpu's. This I5 makes anything below it seem so slow.

I owned a pair of the 430's for 2 years before they finally fell apart and broke. The G430's is a very good headset, the sound quality is fantastic, the microphone is on the better side (cancels out background noise which is fantastic). The cable is braided which helps with durability, and the sound adjustor and microphone mute switch is very nice. I've considered getting a 2nd set of 430's because I loved them just that much. Just be sure to install the drivers and you're good to go. .^

I posted that comment before the 960 was released. I know that the 960 is 200$. Still, price to performance ratio on it sucks, just go with an R9 280/280x. Better performance for the same cost.

Comment reply on Raze3's Completed Build: MiniBuild

He has a very small case which leads for lower air flow, and the processor consumes less Wattage, leading to a cooler CPU, and he's also using the stock cooler. And he has a nice cool, and small GPU to go along with it, so his temps are very good.

Or at least that's what my reasoning would be :P.

Afaik, the step-up program, allows you to trade in older cards, for newer versions EX - trade a 760 for a 960. Or a 770 for a 970, or 780 for 980, but they also do 760 - 970 but you get a large discount.

And things like this is why I don't comment 95% of the time. Because people judge based on ones opinion, I stated my reason as to why I thought he could, and considering how highly rated Corsair is, and how good they seem to truly be, I was just wondering. No need to shove it in my face.

Comment reply on asmit's Completed Build: Beast

While I do agree with you, he could have still gotten better parts for the amount of money he had spent. 600$ is a decent amount, that he could have integrated an FX 6300 and a GTX 750Ti or r9 270, allthewhile still having a hyper 212 EVO and 8 gb of ram. His build is just awkward in spots that people point out because money could've been spent better places.

Comment reply on GeigerBC's Completed Build: Gaming and Traffic Simulation Modeling

I realize this, What I'm trying to say though, is that spending 100$ less on a PSU for around the same amount of power, but could spend more on the Graphics Card, TO CLEAR CONFUSION - I'm not saying that "OH seasonic sucks, and should have gone with corsair" I'm just stating the fact that he invested heavily into a PSU, when he could have gone with a lighter one, and spent more for a better GPU or could have even saved money.

Comment reply on GeigerBC's Completed Build: Gaming and Traffic Simulation Modeling

That is true, but like I was saying, Corsair is a very reliable brand, and is much cheaper.
