Yeah. You were right. I can only get 3 dimms to work at once. I'm guessing I'm in single channel with 3..

Forgot to mention I got it to POST with all 4 sticks of RAM individually.

I also tried 3 different molex connectors on the firewire pcie card today. 1/3 allowed the system to boot to windows, but the interaction with my firewire audio interface got the worst it's ever been... Could be a bad interface.

-Will only post with 1 or 2 sticks of RAM, CPU, PSU and MOBO.

-Will boot with 3 sticks of RAM

-Won't boot with 4 sticks. Starts and runs normally, but no video.

It won't POST at any time after I add the GPU, or any other cards to the PCIE lanes. The only POST code I could get is the one I mentioned earlier (1 long beep, 2 short beeps). After I added the GPU it just booted to the BIOS like nothing was wrong, but NO beep.

I was joking.. Doing the post test right now. Started with 1 16GB RAM stick, CPU, PSU and mobo.

Got 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. Means connect GPU... Connected GPU, got no beeps, but BIOS loaded on monitor perfectly..

The only thing I've noticed as far as GPU problems were DPI scaling changes in some programs, but everything I've run into like that has been well documented by other people as bugs within those programs..

A few things are different now. No M.2 SSD. 3 less 120mm fans, no LED fan controllers. Running 48GB RAM because PC won't power on with 64GB.

Thanks.

Thanks. You'll like the setup if you have the space. I'm always switching the configuration and it's a real smooth case to work with, except the screws/slots for pcie cards. It's not like it makes the case worthless though, I'd definitely buy it again.

I mean. It isn't silent.. Runs for days on full tilt @ 4.6Ghz without breaking a sweat though.

Yeah the only other thing I can think of is PSU or it's shorting somewhere.. Fastest way to find out would probably be to order another a MOBO and install it, right?

Well I had MSI live update and there was no BIOS update available, so I assume I did..

This was my first thought.. My mouse and orbweaver would not turn on with the computer like normal. Audio interface didn't recognize being connected to my computer.. No display.. No beeps.. But everything else ran normal.. Very strange..

Do you mean updated BIOS?

No. Not besides the speaker that won't beep at all..

It was overclocked to 4.0 but always stayed below 60 C.. Everything is connected properly. What could be the cause of it turning off and on like that? As long as it's not the CPU, no big deal..

No problem! I got the BIOS updated, but still no luck installing Windows or getting the M.2 recognized.

I've tried installing Windows on one of the regular SSDs, but no luck..

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Thank you! You've helped me a lot. I'm definitely looking forward to using it. Hopefully it can last me 2-3 years with only a few upgrades along the way..

To be honest, I'm kind of at a loss on setting up the system. The assembly seems to be easier than setting up the software/firmware side of things. I thought all I would have to do after getting the bios to boot is arrange the boot order and install Windows from disc to one of my SSDs.

I've tried installing Windows on one of the regular SSDs, but no luck..

The only I can think of now is that I have the M.2 enabled and I think I'm trying to install it to one of regular SSDs, while the computer is still trying to access the M.2 SSD. But the recovery windows specifically states that the problem is a "removable storage device has either been disconnected, or is failing.."

Any advice would be awesome.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure why people say 32GB is too much... When I do heavy video editing in Adobe, I chew through 16GB easily. I just built a PC with 64GB 3333 RAM because of this.. I almost stepped up to the $2000 Xeon so I could use 128GB. People who say this have not ventured past gaming, or very light photo editing..

Nice build.

How bout Kid Vicious lol

Everything is blank.. When updating the BIOS, does the drive I put the update on have to be empty? I've seen this asked by quite a few people, but never answered.. Excuse my lack of knowledge..

I'll be building another (smaller) computer in the near future so I can have something else to use while this one is rendering..

I wanted to be able to swap drives. I'll have video/photo programs on one and music production on the other.. I'll probably be adding another one shortly for games.

M.2 is for everything else..

Still haven't figured out the windows issue. Attempting again tonight with a BIOS flash and SSD formatting..

Have not formatted M.2..

I have my SSDs connected to SATA 1&2.. What is confusing to me is that they show up in the BIOS.. If they were failing, or not connected properly, wouldn't the SATA ports show as being empty? Like the M.2...

Thanks for the advice. I'm pretty set on getting a real comp built in the next month. I don't have a hard deadline to meet, or I would definitely consider that route. As far as my x51 goes, you are probably right. It is a convenient size that would be difficult to find elsewhere and it's good for everyday use. Probably more useful than the amount I would get for selling it..

I'm basically trying to decide which processor fits my needs the best right now..

I'm confused because on this site it shows the E5-2670 as incompatible with the Z10PE series. Did you use V3 processors for that build?
