I planned to get more ram, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I will soon though. I do some video editing for youtube, but nothing too fancy.

It was a bit cheaper at the time, but I did end up getting a modular because of a deal that was going on. I just chose the semi as a placeholder price and because I couldn't find the psu I got on PC part picker :P

I haven't had much to compare my ryzen build with yet, but I know I get about the same performance as my friend with a i7 6700 + 970 build in games.

I mainly play Overwatch with my new build. I can get around 120+ fps without v-sync on the second highest setting (whatever it is). I barely have any stutters except when my internet starts to lag. I also have tried Ghost Recon Wildlands and I get around 60-100 without v-sync. So I think you can take more advantage over your 970 with a better CPU. Good luck!

True, but there isn't much of a performance difference in games over an 8 gig or even a 4 gig kit.

Edit: I also plan to upgrade in the future.

Not really, after you watch a few how-to's on pc building you start to catch onto everything.
