I actually acquired most of my parts at Micro Center (lucky enough to live within driving distance of one).

Graphic cards were all sold out though had to order them online.

Is it pretty safe to say that prices wont drop on current hardware (even with the annoucements) until the new CPU and GPU comes out?

If thats the case, I don't believe there should be any reason to wait half a year!
