I bought this video card for under MSRP from Dell. i was a little sceptical because it was from a company i don't know much about. when i got the card i noticed it was only reg 3.5GB of video ram i was little concerned then after a little research i found out that the 970s have the same problem across the board. after breaking in the card i thought lets see what i can get out of her. after a little bit of back and forth i got the card overclocked to 1642MHz on the GPU and 3805MHz on the memory. i was happy. the only thing holding me back now is my CPU... im going to get you 4790.

Great GPU! Absolutely great! Runs fast and smooth as can be. Great performance and color and quality. Only problems is I don't like the stock cooler with the single blower. Also had some problems with micro stuttering in games like Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 3. Had to install an older version of the driver to fix. Not sure if this is a GPU error combined with buggy driver, buggy driver, or just a GPU error. Regardless. 5 STARS! Going to get another one for SLI ;)

This GPU was perfect for my particular case. I needed something in the $300ish range that had a blower cooling system, because the case is pretty small and I don't think it could take an axial GPU without installing fans (which cost money).

Now, I know that in the comments there is likely to be a whole bunch of 3.5/4.0, DX12 Async, R9 390 and etc. and I'm fully aware of all these things. After looking at careful benchmarks, the 3.5GB doesn't seem to really affect game performance, and the Async issue only came to light a week after we built. There is currently no blower edition of the R9 390 on the market, and no blower 290(X)s that don't sound like turbines. Furthermore an AMD GPU with equivalent performance would require a beefier PSU, which is more money.

Those concerns aside, this performs perfectly-it cools fine without heating up the case, and it performs in games as you would expect a GTX 970 to do. At 768p we're easily getting ~300FPS on all ultra settings (including 8xMSAA and GameWorks where applicable) and I expect 60FPS/2xMSAA/Ultra when the new 1080p monitor comes in.

Great GPU. It may not be very glamerous looking compared to other cards. But i bought this specifically because of the blower style cooler. It is the best type of cooller for running SLI because it just blows the heat out the back of the case instead of back into the case. Great for close quarters that happen with SLI.
