Using an old HDD in new build

I have recently gotten into computers and I’m planning on building my first PC soon. I intend to have a new SSD to install a fresh version of Windows on. As a second storage device, I intend to migrate a 1 TB hard drive that is in my current computer to the new build. My question is how do I go about doing this, wiping the files and OS from a hard drive so I can put it in a new computer?

Windows has some built-in tools you can use to reformat the drive.
