Dvnmow

Im looking for a pc that will basically be used for oldschool runescape and runescape 3. Maybe some streaming from my xbox and youtube videos. My budget is probably right around $400ish and im from the USA, id like to get a rgb tower but it isnt top priority. If you guys could also give me pointers on 2 decent cheap monitors too thatd be great (id like to run dual monitor). Ill need windows 10 for as cheap as possible. Like i said first pc build and will probably be looking to upgrade in the future so thanks for your help! 😁

  • CPU: Quad core component with SMT will do very good in runescape, and has at least some processing chops for prepping youtube videos/streaming xbox.
  • Cooler: Stock is OK.
  • MOBO: Value board. Might require a bios update before the 3400G processor will function. If that is the case, you will have to take advantage of AMD's loaner program to get it up and running.
  • RAM: Very cheap RAM. Still not the slowest, so that is good for Ryzen.
  • SSD: Nope.
  • HDD: 2TB is a good start for a gaming build.
  • GPU: Nope. GPU is integrated into the CPU/Motherboard.
  • Case: Not great. Functional, but not great. Almost every other case I looked at for less $$$ had crap airflow and no ability to improve it. You can/will be getting rid of the pre-installed fans and replacing them with RGB. (Won't hurt you to have extras just in case).
  • PSU: Mid-tier PSU. About the cheapest you can go right now. (Thanks to tarrifs).
  • Optical: No longer needed.
  • OS: Are you in school? Check with your IT department for a free copy that you can use while a student.
  • Monitor: Couple of these should be okay. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/6NGj4D/sceptre-monitor-e225w1920
  • Fans: Some super duper cheap RGB fans on Amazon. I do not guarantee quality, but in your price range that shouldn't be surprising.

I would say getting 2x4 Ram is a better idea unless OP plans on upgrading it somewhat soon. And you could get the aerocool Cylon Mini for cheaper which is a better case. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/MCjJ7P/aerocool-cylon-mini-microatx-mini-tower-case-accs-pv1201311

yeah, 1x8 was cheaper for that speed. Probably 2x4 would be more performant. Video proof...ish

And you could get the aerocool Cylon Mini for cheaper which is a better case.

Unless there is a mesh panel that is completely escaping my notice, that Aerocool case is garbage for airflow. There are a ton of cheaper cases with poor airflow that could be considered, I just went with the cheapest case that would support a decent number of intake fans pulling air through open(ish) mesh.

I mean it's not the worst airflow but yeah that's probably a better option.

Would you mind doing a decent $600ish build? Thank you for your reply, i appreciate you guys so much. im doing this build for around Christmas time so i should be able to gather up the extra money before then.

Similar, but considerably more performance.

Differences:

  • CPU: The 2600 is 8% about faster than the 1600. I thought that was worth $20. It is WAY faster than the 3400G with 2 more cores and 4 more threads all at a faster clock speed. It is really workload dependent, but it could be as much as 40% faster on compute tasks! The 2600 does not have an iGPU like the 3400G though, so it will require a dedicated Graphics Card.
  • Cooler: Still the stock cooler.
  • MOBO: Highest rated "el cheapo" motherboard. Follow the herd for safety! :)
  • RAM: 2x4gb should be just fine for a value build.
  • SSD: NVME SSD because it has very good value. AKA, it is cheap.
  • HDD: Dropped for now, motherboard will support several for future upgrades.
  • GPU: A dedicated GPU instead of integrated. This is really all you need for 1080p Gaming. The 590 is essentially a factory overclocked 580. It for sure performs a little better, but you would likely be fine with a 580 if you wanted to save some bucks. GPU is the #1 indicator of gaming performance in a given resolution. The 590 is the 1080P king.
  • Extra Case Fans: Dropped in favor of enhancing performance.

better GPU/PSU balance

still have 1/2Tb of SSD storage, much faster than the 660p

550W PSU

16GB of 3200 RAM, Ryzen likes fast RAM

Did have to drop to a 580, but still good for gaming.
