use a node 202 if you want console sized case it wil fit the 980 you have but you will need a smaller cooler

my issue is at some point i will want to probably upgrade the GPU - hence not going smaller on the case.

i just need some one to confirm that all the parts are good to go and there is no better parts i should be using that will fit into the case

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/r3MRGc Cheaper with a boot drive and a main drive. Make sure wherever you buy the motherboard from that the Bios is already updated or if you have a CPU that is compatible.

That CPU cooler is not designed to allow a 3700X (or i7/i9) to operate optimally. If it will fit, the very best small form factor cooler is the be quiet! Dark Rock TF. It is far and away the best, smashing even most AIO perfromance (SFF that is). If that won't fit, then look for coolers with the largest fin stack that can fit in the allotted space.

The RAM selected doesn't appear to be available.

The Motherboard may need a super-annoying bios update before the chip will work. While AMD will loan out CPU's for this purpose, that is an extra step. AMD site link. (Scroll down to the "Short Term Processor Loan Boot Kit" section).

i still have concerns over this small case you have suggested.

I have used it before with a lower end cpu cooler than the one I recommended for you. There are no problems with that case size. It is just tiny. What concerns do you have?

There are many HTPC style cases that are much larger, but they will still look fine in your living room. IMO Silverstone makes the highest quality that fits that bill. The size can go all the way up to EATX BTW. Link: https://silverstonetek.com/product_case.php?bno=28&tb=1&area=en. I have a GD09 in my living room. It is still smaller than a mid-tower laying on it side because it it nowhere near as "deep" (from front to back). I would know, because I started with a mid-sized NZXT tower and moved to the GD09 on the basis of it fit on my entertainment center much much better.
