I live in the Vancouver, BC area and just recently upgraded to Shaw Internet 300.
So far, so good...
A couple of small problems have popped up.
1- I'm getting just a little less than half of the advertised speed. I started getting around 179 Mbps, but after a couple of days it's dropped to about 135. Shaw is sending out a Tech to check things out sometime next week...
2- The new modem only has two ports on it - old one had 4 and that wasn't enough. So now I'm looking to buy an 8 port Switch.
Here are the ones I'm looking at:
TP-LINK SOHO TL-SG108 8-Port 10/100/1000Mbps Desktop Switch https://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_1195_700_1103&item_id=058860
TP-Link TL-SG1008D 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Gigabit Desktop Switch, 16Gbps Switching Capacity https://www.newegg.ca/p/N82E16833704043?Description=Network%20Switch&cm_re=Network_Switch-_-33-704-043-_-Product
Netgear ProSAFE GS308 8-Port Gigabit Switch https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX64318
I'm trying to add my TV, BlueRay Player, WDTV Media Player to my network so I can access the internet for Netflix and YouTube, and also send video files to my Media Player.
Any thoughts on which Switch I should seriously consider?
