I was going to get a 2700x. Should I get this instead?
For price to performance yes. And with Ryzen 3000 releasing soon you will have more money to upgrade in the future.
i can sell you my 2700X, but this might be more worth it at only $130. cause I'd probably sell mine for about 80% of current new price of $279.99; about $224. that seems lame, I guess I'd do $200 even on mine. its about 2 months old, and for one of those months, its been sitting in an Asus X470-Pro board on my shelf. I also have not even used the Wraith Prism cooler that came with it.
of course, if you are not interested in used, then this deal is excellent, however, you'd need to be near a microcenter.
Damn. I built my Ryzen machine before Gen 2 dropped. I bought a 1700 Non-X for $300...
Yikes. I remember picking up a 1700 for $240 in October 2017. Granted it was at Micro Center.
Im not upset. The 1700 is still a beast, especially with a 4 Ghz overclock. I've yet to max it out on normal situations other than benchmarking.
That is... actually insane. Plus it looks like their $30 off motherboard combo deal still applies. That's some incredible value.
