[Fun] Build me a showcase PC

Dreadvolt

I want something beautiful here. Let's pretend that money is no object, and I want something that looks amazing (internals are at least mostly visible). Ideally this build would be fairly quiet, because it's meant to be seen, and not tucked away anywhere.

RGB is an option, but is not a requirement for this assignment.

Lets see what kinda beauts you can come up with.

Assume the workload is AAA gaming, streaming, and content creation.

I would do something like this, put a nice custom loop on it, large rads, etc and it would be a nice looking rig.

  • 1 point

Yeah it would. Big case, big power, not the look I'd probably opt for, but you're right, that is something that would certainly get noticed.

I know this might not be as powerful as everyone else's suggestions, but you can just swap out the 2080s for 2 Zotac 2080 Ti AMP Extremes. I have also seen from Optimum Tech that the 9900K has several areas within content creation in which its pretty good at, and gaming I'm pretty sure is also another area were it can outperform Threadripper. I'm not 100% sure of what I just said, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

For this parts list I tried making it a black build with RGB.

Individually, you've got some beautiful components, I'm not sure how well they'd play together though.

If I'm counting correctly you'd likely end up with 4 different RGB controllers. (CAM, MSI for board + SSD, Corsair, and Zotac).

Again, individually, gorgeous, but I think you'd have a really hard time sync-ing them. Don't worry about raw performance, I mean, obviously it'd be nice if it could haul-***, but we're talking showcase here. Gimme something more, I know you got it in you. =)

It did say on Corsair's site that the memory is compatible with Mystic Light Sync, but yeah you're right, 3 different pieces software is a bit much.

  • 1 point

oh im sure it is, just like it 'can' sync with RGB Fusion from Gigabyte. The problem is that Corsair's iCUE just does the RGB so much better.

I would probably pair a 360 Corsair AIO and put their ML RGB fans on it. Then at least your memory and AIO / fan RGB would be syncd.

I like where you're at though, this would turn some heads with RGB. Need to seem some sleek sleeper builds up in here.

I think I'm in love with this. What do you think?

A lot more understated than most of the RGB builds so far, but with a splash of light under the case, and within to highlight the components. The HUE2 strips are pretty much just to make the internals visible, while the RAM would be lit up simply to catch the eye and draw the viewer in. Thought about using the gold Royal Trident Z, but I thought that the black looked better with everything else included.

Replace the Pure Wings 2 fans on the AIO with Silent Wings 3, and side mount it, 3 more SW3 in the front, and top, and the two 80mm pure wings in the back.

  • Unless you plan on running multi GPU setups, there’s no need to buy a 1KW PSU
  • I’d advise on getting Noctua Industrials, for the AIO (static pressure is very good, and should boost performance by a good bit)
  • Better quality keyboard
  • I’ve seen some mixed reviews about NZXT’s software, so you’re probably better off getting some addressable RGB strips, and hooking them up to the MoBo
  • Better quality keyboard

I have this build but an 8700k and a 1080 ti instead and it looks so nice. The case has a wrap over glass panel which makes it both easy to work inside of and very aesthetically pleasing. I would also say to replace the RAM with the silver Royal version which reflects the RGB immaculately within the case. There are 8 fan slots in this case so filling them all with the Thermaltake riing plus fans makes the RGB balance very will with the black exterior and a dark motherboard. Big fan of this build

I decided to go HAM and do an all out, RGB'd White and Black Stomtrooper build.

Had to somewhat guess on a few pieces, wouldn't surprise me if I under guessed on the GPUs. Motherboard and case are amazon.com prices *1.33 for conversion to Canadian Tire Money.

Looks pretty dynamite.

Can't decide if I like it better with the glass front, or a mesh front though. Kinda really liking the mesh right now.

What do you think?

I'd say:

  • Beauty: glass front

  • Functionality, with beauty: meshed front.

Since you've got 2 GPUs and a shedload of fans, the meshed front would probably be better for thermal (but there's no real harm in getting the glass front, if you want to)

Resurrecting this thread, cause I enjoy spending make believe money making computers I'll never get to actually use.

Wanted to try putting together a beautiful, non-RGB black and grey build. Can't find Carbon, or Black & Grey cablemod cables on Amazon.com so just ignore the fact that they're black and red in the build, it's just a placeholder.

I've never seen this Patriot Viper Steel before last night, and in my mind, it looks gorgeous. Especially installed on an ASRock Taichi, or EVGA Dark series mainboard, subtle but stellar.

Replace the 3x PureWings fans on the radiator with the better HighSpeed SilentWings3 fans in a top mounted position, 3x 120mm slower SilentWings3 in the front for intake, 1x HighSpeed SilentWings3 for rear exhaust.

RGB frames added to each fan (with a few spares, cause Amazon...) should you desire to see your beautiful build in the dark.

Custom CableMod cables (pretend they're Carbon, or Black & Grey, not the Black & Red displayed)

CableMod vertical GPU bracket, because SLI is excessive and unnecessary (unlike the rest of this build which is 100% reasonable).

Now, I just need someone to give me $10K CDN.

Silver G.Skill Royal memory, paired with Gold Titans, paired with a gajillion Corsair fans and accessories?

I get that the Royal ram is gorgeous, as are the Titans, but with so many RGB components why not just sync them all, when you're really just the RAM away from doing so? And if you really wanted the Royal, why not gold to pair with the Titans?

Didn't love that case at first, but it's certainly growing on me. Nice job!

While I like this a lot, it's far too practical to be a showcase rig. I mean, I can afford this one! LOL.

Nice job though, I like this build, I'd opt for a different case personally, but I really like where you're heads at with this.

I think it'd look fantastic in the "before" picture, next to one of the other suggested builds in the "after" picture as a showcase piece.
