Which ballistix kit since Crucial offers both single and dual ranked on most of the line?

octa-wow submitter 1 point 8 days ago

Both the ram choices are dual kits of 4gb(8gb total) and the gskill is ripjaws v , and the ballistix is elite

At 8gb both are single ranked the GSkill will offer slightly better performance if the CPU will run it at full rated speeds.

What does single ranked and dual ranked means?

Gilroar 1 point 8 days ago

If the memory chips are on both sides of the board itself.

Dual ranked has better access so is actually faster.

But because you have more memory chips tends to clock lower.

Early on Ryzen CPU had some issues with it leading to many saying avoid it but with the memory compatibility improved its back to being better clock for clock.

For a better understanding give this a study its one of the best write ups on the subject.
