Is this good for a first time build?

So I'm planning to build this pc for 1080p ultra gaming, general light college work, simulations, and virtual machines. I'm going to wait until the gtx 1070 comes out to build it, so the gtx 980 is only there to estimate the price of the founder's edition card. So is this a good gaming rig, or should I change some parts that are better. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RsJttJ

You're overspending on that monitor. I can tell you that much. With a 1070 you should either be looking at 1440p or 1080p 144Hz.

I do like your choice in cpu cooler. I went with 1440p in the suggestion, but here's a solid 144Hz 1080p monitor: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/acer-monitor-umfg6aab01

Thanks for the reply! I really didn't know what was a good monitor, I just picked one that had good reviews. Thanks for the suggestions on other monitors.

A while ago, I was in the same spot as you and overspent on a 1080p monitor. It's a good monitor and I'm happy with it, but it still irks me knowing I could've gotten a very similar monitor (and probably one with a better fit overall) for a lot less money if I'd looked for some more experienced second opinions, haha
