So my router will be going downstairs, and will not be next to my pc anymore so I can use wired connection.

Do you guys recommend going with the usb dongle wifi thing or the pcie card that plugs in to the mobo for wifi?

I'm willing to spend up to $30

All else being equal, PCI-E > USB.

For $25-30:

Rosewill RNX-N600UB, SIIG CN-WR0811-S1, Rosewill RNX-AC1200UB, TRENDnet TEW-726EC, Rosewill N600PCE, Rosewill N900PCE, ASUS PCE-N15,

You can spend $18 and see if a TP-LINK WN822ND works well enough. Or, you could mess with those $25 ones. Or... spend $40 on a TP-LINK TL-WDN4800.
