nwavguy has you covered. Perform some ABX blind tests to see if you can tell a difference between certain bitrates/formats.

Best solution for a phone without really compromising quality is mp3 v0.

How would you get your music into that quality?

You'd rip it from your CDs.

Oh, I normally just download music.

In decreasing order of audio quality:

  • FLAC
  • Opus
  • AAC
  • Vorbis (also called Ogg)
  • MP3
  • WMA

WAV and FLAC are both lossless formats, but since FLAC takes less space and supports tagging, there's no reason to bother with WAV where FLAC is available.

Flac and Wav are identical. They are both lossless formats. Flac is seen as superior because Wav does not support tagging.

Since you mention mobile and 320, you might as well just use V0.

Flac and Wav are identical.

Uhhh... FLAC is compressed; WAV is not. FLAC typically compresses from 20% to 60% smaller than the size of the equivalent WAV file, depending on file content. This is why FLAC is commonly used as an archival format.

And yes, FLAC also supports tagging.

I meant to say they sound identical. Missed a couple words.

WAV is lossless, but considered to be inferior to FLAC.

In terms of quality its not inferior. Flac has a great advantage which is compression. Wont take that much space..
