I want to get better at live vocal mixing but I don't know how. And I don't think it will be as simple as buying a board and a few lav mics.

go to school for sound engineering... seriously... or at least practice a ton with live bands.

But I'm doing it for my high school in a few years since the head mixer is graduating. I don't really have any connections with other bands or vocalists.

find a music teacher who can help. many have experience.... same for any AV club people that might be at your school, or even many tech ed teachers...
