The name of this build is BlackMicrowave, simply because it's small, black, square, you can see what's inside, and it has built in Wi-Fi. So there couldn't possibly be a more suitable name for this thing than that! :)
The PC Case is really beautiful. Sometimes I just sit in my chair and stare at it like a child would stare at the night sky. In my opinion it is a perfect balance between everything. It has the right size, big enough, but not too big. It has great temps and decent airflow while still being nice and quiet.
Edit: Thank you everyone for kind comments and support! Thank you PCPP for featuring this build, I am indescribably honoured :) This site is really a great community...
i7 7700k most powerful Intel CPU that was available when choosing ITX format. Originally wanted to go with 7820X. No problems so far.
EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 really great card, it was a huge jump for me in terms of performance. Now I am starting to think it was a total overkill, since I built this PC to do mostly CAD work. The only thing that let me down was the EVGA customer service. I had to return the card because of the problem mentioned below and they took a month to replace it.
Z270i definitely a nice mobo. Support two M.2 slots (the front one also has a heatsink), Aura LEDs are nice, though missing internal USB2.0 could be an issue for somebody using an AIO cooling.
Samsung 960 Pro is probably the biggest milestone in the history of mankind since the internet. It is unbelievably fast and responsive.
Dark Rock Pro 3 silent, powerful, majestic. But the heatpipes were obstructing one of the RAM sticks, so one half of the heatsink had to be removed from the RAM (which was carefully done by my friend :).
PSU Corsair RM750x simply great. Although not overclockable ( haha ), runs silently and comes with lots of accessories.
Fans Silent Wing 3 stunning performance. They are quiet, look gorgeous and support different methods of mounting.
Fans Cryorig XT140 I had to choose some slim fans (Silent Wings didn't fit) and these seemed to be an option, but I would not recommend them. Their bearings are making a small rustling noise compared to Silent Wings, which are absolutely quiet.
CPU was delidded for better temps, but was overclocked only to 4.7GHz at 1.25 (it was stable at 1.23, but somehow scored 130 points less in Heaven). CPU temps are surprisingly really high at idle (42C), but during normal workload it doesn't exceed the threshold of 67C, 73C when stress-testing. GPU temps are normal, 44C while idle and 67C when benchmarking while overclocked (with fans at 100%, of course).
The build was originally equipped with Phanteks Led Strips and Phanteks Black and White sleeved cables, but it looked horribly, so I decided to make the cables by myself (my first time). I used MDPC-X sleeving, MiniFt Junior terminals and Gosumodz connectors. Although it turned out great, it was such a pain making these, especially thanks to the Gosumodz connectors. Please, stay away from them. They are really imprecisely made and you will experience enormous suffering if you decide to go with them in your build (the joke is, only the male end was problem). Eventually I also changed the Led Strips for Nanoxia RGB which are exceptional!
Listed prices are the actual cost of those components in my country during the time of this build. The PC was built in collaboration with my friend, but still, the whole process was accompanied by many complications a took more than two months to finish... The funniest complication of all was probably the weird backplate on video card - only every other symbol was actually embossed! Even the EVGA said they hadn't seen it yet.
PC has two 3D-printed parts inside. One being the white shield that covers cable-mess, while making a support for the video card to stay level and the other one is a Superman themed emblem (Š is the first letter of my surname, haha). Because photography is one of my hobbies, I also tried to take some time with photos. Hope you like it.
Thanks for looking at my build. Please, let me know what you think. I am really interested in your opinion :)
