Description

My newest system. Decided to upgrade it. This is now officially the highest end system I've ever owned, and I'm proud of it. I never thought I'd own any Ryzen 7, and here I am rocking AMD's (at least until July 7th) current gen Ryzen 7. The RX 590 I got cause my (used) RX 480 was failing on me. I decided to buy a new GPU for once, and I ordered the 590 cause it's the AMD 50th Anniversary edition, and I thought it'd be a cool piece of computing history.

Storage and PSU I carried over from my previous build. I would have carried over my motherboard, but I wanted something different than the AB350M I had. It's an okay board on a budget, but it isn't the greatest. The B450M Pro4 ain't the greatest motherboard on the market either, but it's leagues better than the AB350M.

The ram I got is XPG GAMMIX D10, but silver. All the specs are the same otherwise as the kit I selected on the left. For some reason PCPP decided silver ram should be persecuted.

The storage is all solid AF, same with the PSU. Only reason I got an RGB PSU is cause a couple years ago I got it for a super good deal after a mail-in rebate.

The name for the build is named after my favorite album by my favorite band.

Also, the image with the green ram, ignore. The ADATA ram I ordered off of Rakuten was taking forever to get here, and the Crucial memory was just a placeholder till that got here.

Part Reviews

CPU

Awesome CPU, an amazing bargain at $200. I love it.

Motherboard

Great board, a lot of good features, good VRMs, four ram slots. If you're going B450 and micro ATX, this is the go-to board.

Memory

It's 3000MHz, 16GB, I got it for $60. Can't complain.

Storage

I got this a year or two ago. It's Micro Center's in house brand. You can get them on Amazon though. They're super cheap now, so there's not a reason, IMO, to not get one. NVMe storage is super awesome as a boot drive.

Storage

It ain't the world's greatest SSD, but it is Crucial, and they're a solid brand. I use it for the games I play the most, which is mainly multiplayer games with friends. It does have Ace Combat 7 and Far Cry 3 on there though. But mainly, Overwatch, CSGO, Rainbow Six, games like that live on here.

Storage

I use this as my backup drive. Every week Windows backs up my files to this hard drive. When I recently reinstalled Windows, made it super easy, just had to restore all my files from the last back up. I totally recommend at least one extra 2TB drive for that.

Storage

I got this for free. I can't complain for a free 2TB hard drive. I found it in a desk at work, boss said I could have it. Been using it full time in my build for a couple years now.

Video Card

I love it. Get great frames and it pushes my 144Hz Freesync panel. Only issue I have is power draw. Love the gold, it's actually really classy looking in person.

Case

My first tempered glass case. Cable management is super easy for an mATX case. It fits all my components easily. Airflow is great too, and the top and bottom fan filters are magnetic. Even has a window so I can still see the RGB from my PSU.

I took one star off cause the front panel fans don't have fan filters.

Power Supply

It's actually a quality/great PSU. Fully modular, and if you can get a great price on it, it's worth it. You can set the RGB to a static color or let it cycle, even shut it off all the way.

I would buy it again.

Thanks, I tried to get everything while it was on sale, only thing I didn’t was my 590... kinda hard to when you have a part fail on you.

Thanks! Also, yeah, don’t see too many people with this 590. It’s actually pretty cool though.

Depends on how much you're willing to spend. I only spent $240 because I went for the special edition.

If you're going to go either GPU, I recommend the 8GB version of the 580 at least. 580s can be had for super cheap now, I've seen them go on sale for $130. Whereas the 590 stays roughly around $200. But I have seen them go on sale lower than that. If the 580 is on such a good sale, no, the 590 isn't worth it. If neither card is currently on sale, yeah, I'd say the 590 is worth it.

Fun fact, according to this, the 590 is roughly on par with a 1660. (to give a better idea of performance) https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1660-vs-AMD-RX-590/4038vs4033

But if you find an 8GB 580 for sub... $150.. $160. I'd say jump on that over either of the other two cards. You could always OC the 580 to get close to 590 performance afterwards. (assuming you won the silicon lottery of course)
