Description

I built this pc for my wife and it was an accumulation of parts we picked up over the past couple years, She does not play heavy GPU based games as it really only games when she plays Roblox with our daughter but I am sure the GTX 1060 will do just fine with 1080p on most all games at high settings.

The build was not supposed to be a budget breaking no holds bared build but just a capable machine for all her needs with a little headroom.

We won the case a couple years ago and we decided to respray the inside of this Raidmax case to be white as it originally was black on the inside, We spent about 120 dollars on automotive single stage white paint and sanded and prepped the inside and sprayed out.

We then bought the Motherboard a couple years ago before the second generation Ryzen chips so we learned that we had to flash the bios for current chips to get the Ryzen 5 2600 chip to work.

I picked up the 32GB of memory from ebay used for about 150.00 in their original packaging .

The Galax 1060 white OC GPU we picked up from a friend that never used it other than to benchmark it and see what it could do , so it was basically new.

I added the Samsung EVO 250gb M.2 for the OS and a Western Digital 1TB HDD for storage.

We used the be quiet 500 watt pure power 9 semi modular PSU and I made some cable extensions for it.

I picked up some Aigo RGB fans, A 5 pack and a single fan so 6 fans total that had its own controller for spd and light modes, it will always be set on white or teal so the ability to change the color was the only thing need as the flashing RGB wave was not something the wife wanted it the build

I picked up the Bykski CPU water block that was silver and had RGB strip, The EK reservoir , an 240mm copper radiator and a barrow pump makes up the loop with some 1/2" tubing.

I made the GPU bracket with the Galax HOF theme although the GPU is not a HOF we thought it looked cool non the less.

In all the build works great and the wife is very happy with it. Her old build had a GTX 960 and FX 8250 CPU so this is a nice upgrade from that build. And the old FX8350 build she had was passed on to my 6year old Daughter so I made both women in my life happy!

The temps are good, I benchmarked it on Heaven and gpu temps were at 65C for the GPU and the Ryzen 5 2600 was at a solid 34c. The GPU was showing a 1940 Mhz on the clock and heaven was set at windowed 1920 x 1080 on high setting and was showing average 120FPS. The Galax GPU also ran Heaven flawlessly without any stuttering during the test... I was really impressed by that, Real smooth. In all the system seem to be running real good, I migth watercool the GPU down the road since all the hardware is there just need to do some tweaking on the tubing.

Thanks for looking Jeff Video of the build his here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqmI0-KpKEQ

Nice build! I love the color scheme! I've been working on an all white build and saw the MSI B350 was perfect for the color scheme. Unfortunately I won't be using the mobo because the prices are almost $80-$100 more compared to a 450/470 mobo. However, it's still a gorgeous mobo.

You using the build for gaming, programming etc?

The pc will be for using Coreldraw as I make custom pc mods so we are using Coreldraw daily. Also this is my wifes build so light gaming will be enjoyed mainly Roblox etc , gaming in that nature.

I love seeing fairly budget builds that look this good and have a proper custom loop. NJ! 1060 is still a great card. Looking good.

Where did you get the galax 1060 from? I can't find galax things anywhere and i'm not happy with it because their stuff is super cool.

You should be able to buy them off their website. I don't think they have the 1060s anymore on there but the have the new 20 series.

Yeah I was looking for the white 2060 for a snow white core v1 build and it was sold out everywhere.

By far the best color scheme I've seen in the builders other than black/red. Looks great though.

Good price for the performance as well. Are you going to use this build for rendering/streaming?

Thanks! I'm the wife that he built this PC for. I use it most for Amazon shopping, YouTube/Netflix, CorelDraw, and the occasional Roblox with my daughter. All I asked for was for most of it to be white with teal accents. I think he did a great job!

For your uses, this build is a bit overkill, but I guess performance is everything!

Hahaha yeah I wasn't sure if the 1060 could handle all of the Amazon shopping, but so far it's held up nicely. My FPS is incredible! :D

Great build, I used to hate white builds but now they make more parts in white so you can truly go ham on white. What type of monitor is that and how is the color?

  • 1 point

The monitor is a 32"Samsung 60hz 1080p, it's okay but way to big for my liking. The wife got it for free as her job gives out points quarterly for performance bonuses so she bought it with the points she had built up. The picture is great for gaming and video but the text isn't as sharp as I would like.

what is that gpu backplate brand? I have been looking for a non RGb backplate. EPIC build +1

It is the OEM backplates on the Galax 1060. I do make backplates for ppl at jmmods if you need something made custom. Thx Jeff

FPS on games?

  • 1 point

I use a 60hz monitor and I never dip below 60fps on any of the games I play, I can play Division 2 on ultra setting and never see the FPS go below 60. I have it capped at 60 so I do not know how much is gets total other than the Heaven benchmark I did and saw about 120 fps on heaven with high settings. The 1060 is the best middle of the road GPU for 60HZ gaming in my opinion.

Hey Atom... I am not following you on the "not custom water cooled" What would dictate a custom water cooled system? One that also has the GPU water cooled? I have here Rigid tubing , Radiator, Pump, Reservoir all custom to this build. Pump is underneath the PSU cover and tubing is bent and routed to it. I may in the future water cool the GPU but still this in my opinion custom Water cooled system. thanks for looking at the build! Jeff
