Description

Built this PC a while back without a GPU, because prices were so dang high. Used integrated graphics at first, then found a 1060 6gb on ebay for 250. Went with the 8600k for it's 6 cores and got it open box at microcenter for 200.

Gets great fps rates on just about any 1080p game, and I will probably eventually adventure into VR.

Healthy 4.7GHZ Overclock on my 8600k - No OC on my 1060. Will soon get an ssd.

(Pictures taken before 1060 was put in)

Edit: Adding pictures with 1060. I know it is a semi-modular PSU, so the cabling for the GPU looks kinda nasty. Kill me now. If I were to build another PC for the same budget, I'd go for https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cx3KpG

+1 for the cat in the MOBO box?

PS: Find the spidget finner in the pics.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great processor for the price. Have it OCed to 4.7ghz stably through MSI command center. Runs fast and (relatively) cool.

CPU Cooler

Amazing little air cooler--performs about as well as most liquid coolers and keeps my 8600k at 4.7ghz

Motherboard

Nothing special, but the MSI software is great, and it OCs well.

Memory

Nothing special, just a 16gb kit.

Storage

Slow, but I had it in the basement and don't have an ssd yet.

Video Card

Great card for CHEEEEEEP (relatively, I got it used). Plays 1080p Really well.

Case

Decent case, nothing super fancy, got it on sale at newegg.

Power Supply

Go full modular. The cable management is kinda crappy bc each cable needs to have lots of connections since you can only put in 4 cables.

Case Fan

They are fans and they are LED (Mine are actually blue but they didn't have those on PCpartpicker)

How are the Temps with the H7 with the 4.7GHz?

Quick tip: Add some more photos - show off your build! Also, the blue cable channel is designed to allow you to put the 24 Pin ATX cable behind it as opposed to over the top.

Great first computer, you are a lucky man! Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks! As I said, the PSU isn't great and the cables it came with are really rigid. I tried doing that but the cable just wouldn't bend enough.

Get an SSD it will save a lifetime

Yeah, but I don't mind long load times as long as performance is good. Will get one soon, though.

Nice build! There's something hot about that stuble blue-black color scheme! It's really unfortunate that the budget-ish z370-a pro Mobo has that slightly ugly brown color. I almost went for it before changing my build color scheme to red.

Thanks! I don't really care that much how it looks, I originally was just gonna put in normal non-led fans, but found the blue ones for 5 bucks each and figured why not. Also added in a little light thingy on the bottom just so you can actually see it. More pics coming!

Yep. I will get an SSD at some point but I don't really need one in-game and I don't mind long load times.
