My second computer ever (and second custom build). I use this primarily for Rendering and projects that require intensive cpu usage.

Using an X99 board allows the cpu to run at faster clock speeds than a server board. All of the cpu cores usually run at a speed of around 2.8 ghz but can turbo boost up to 3.6 ghz when a program is only really utilizing a few processors.

It runs at 3.6Ghz because its that cpu's turbo speed not because of the motherboard

And that's only one core at a time, 22 cores running at 3.6 GHz would be ridiculously hot.

Hi Aurelina,

Where did you get the GA-X99 Designare from? It's out of stock everywhere in US?

I actually got it from the intel website because employees are allowed to get products from the website for lower prices. I am not sure if it is still there due to the new x299 chipset that has replaced the x99 version. Also, you have to be an intel employee :/.
