The Story ---

When I built my previous rig about 1.5 years ago, SLI 770 2GB cards w/ 3570K I had no intention of 4K gaming. Not a month later I bought a Samsung 4K 60Hz monitor, and then soon after that the Acer 4K model. I quickly realized that while I could play a couple games maxed at 4K, most games I could not without either terrible frame rate or running out of video ram. Recently that rig has started having some motherboard issues so I said **** it, we're building a new computer.

As a Software Engineer I spend a fair amount of time developing software and thus a big use of this computer will be software development, of which it is completely overkill for. However when I am not writing software or browsing the webs I am playing games. Unfortunately I can't stand not being able to play my games maxed with whatever hardware I have available which means maxed settings at a 4K resolution achieving at least 60fps.

I plan on getting an Ultra Wide 1440p monitor (probably the Acer Predator w/ G-Sync) once the price comes down a little. Once that happens I'll probably retire my 4K monitor as a secondary keeping the ultra wide as the main screen.

This might be a stupid question but how many 4 monitors can you hook up to that

I should be able to hook up 4 of them at 60hz. I think I can do 5 with one being hdmi and 30hz

How is that 860W PSU holding up for your 2 980ti's + overclocking cpu (since you got the K i7 + fancy mobo)?

So far no issues. Everything is holding steady!

Do the cards get enough airflow between them? And if so how loud do they get? Btw that's an outstanding build you got there!!!

I'd like to know the same about the graphic cards. Are the cooling systems that come on the cards sufficient, or do they require water cooling too?

Looks amazing! I've been scouring the web for pictures of this mobo and gpu combo with the kraken cooler as it is exactly the build I'm aiming for, just not in sli. That thing must wreck everything you throw at it with ease! Can you tell me what led strip you used? It adds the perfect amount of light to showcase the build.

Your build is on point. Could you add a pic of the back to show cable management? That is the one place I'm having a rough time with the sound dampening killing wire space with extensions and what-not.
