An excellent gaming and 3D modeling powerhouse.
So epic! I wish I could give it a +10!
Nice build, The cables are very nice :)
Wow! Beautiful build! Do you have more pics?
EDIT: Btw, what cables are those?
Custom sleeved using Lutro0 sleeving.
You sleeved then yourself!?
Yep, really isn't that hard.
Amazing Build. But some more pics that show the whole system (From the side perhaps) anyway great build +1
I have this sudden urge to watch stargate. +1
This. (And BEAUTIFUL build!)
more pics! it seems like a really nice build!
+1 amazing build bro!
Very nice, I like the name. :p
What are we, ants? Why are we so zoomed into the pics we could (carefully) lick the DIMMs? xP
Just playing! This is awesome. Great pics, but I'd love to see more of the HAF XB. I've built in one of those before. They are sturdy!
A Center for Ants
Very neat. Is 750W Psu gonna be enough for that build though?
Those 970s do not use up much power at all
Yes it is.
Estimated TDP: 600w.
Should be enough.
I think I am speaking for everyone when I say more pics! From what we can see it, looks very nice!
Excellent cable management. I agree with everyone- more photos.
Looks absolutely fantastic! Those sleeved cables are great! +1
+1 for the name :)
Great build. What is the primary source of the red light? LED strips?
Why the two different SSDs?
Why does this matter?? Tell your OCD to go sit in the car.
bro, please tell your attitude to piss off. This was a rude and unwanted comment you posted, and you should really think before you speak online. Did it occur to you that this person had a legit question for the OP? And also, this is not a case of OCD, as those afflicted with this unfortunate disorder would be frantically trying to figure out why and how they could "fix" this mismatched HD system. if you felt snappy at the time of writing, I get that but please think next time before you write
Wow, that just happened. I'm sorry I couldn't make sarcasm more obvious without some sort of emoticon, but if anyone has anything to say about comments I make, it would be the guy I was talking to. Not someone deciding to blow up randomly. If I was serious about any allusion that the person is afflicted with OCD, I would've kept the comment to myself. Otherwise, if I'm playing around and am meaning no harm (hence, telling OCD to sit in the car is a playful jest, not an attempt to defame or alienate a person) I will say what I wish, what I will, and in any way I see fit in a tacky manner if I please.
The OP's setup is amazing anyways, so the only real questions in regards to parts would be about the SSD's which both are amazing SSDs, so I myself would not mind had he chose either brand or just one brand for both of them, but it would affect some people and I will poke fun at them whenever I get the chance. I respect everyone's choices in their PCs and I respect everyone's questions in regards to those PCs. What I don't respect are people who blow up and get butthurt when they don't know the intent of a person's comment. Could I've changed my comment in some way to show that I was not serious? Yeah, definitely. 100 different ways to say that in a lighter tone, but I didn't choose either of them. Could you have just been like, "That seems rude" and then I would see it and just reply, "Oh, I apologize, I was just poking fun. didn't mean to offend anyone". Yeah that could have went down a lot easier. But that didn't happen. You want to critique the way I comment go ahead, but only if you'll take my critique on your's. My critique for you is get the facts straight before you blow up. Just my 2 cents there.
Side note: For an iBuyPower PC, those are some decent parts you have, but I might get a different PSU since that one is an old and inefficient model. Not that it's a bad one, but again, my 2 cents.
Ah, good, i'm not dealing with a troll here. Hey, look i'm sorry if I cant always tell if someone is using sarcasm or anger in a comment. Though it CAN be obvious, it isn't always. From how your comment was written, it came off a bit snappy and I figured I would put a troll in its place, you know? This is not my first bump into misread emotion from online comments, so I know that the best way to correct it is to apologize for the mistake. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I meant no disrespect and same with you (i just didn't see that)
and btw, thanks for the 2 cents about my PSU, im not sure if it is very reliable because my PC has started at random at night (this could be windows processes and/or MOBO BIOS wake on lan features)
Side Note: very calm and well written response. love that about people here on PCPP. YouTube comments would go supernova like a class O hypergiant star.
No offence taken. And I got the sarcasm and thought the comment was funny. ;)
I think this illustrates one of the limitations of the part list. We can't tell of a part was previously owned. So it is assumed the builder explicitly bought two different ssds at the same time. So I was wondering if that was the case. I guess the builder could override the price and set it to 0 to imply that it was previously owned.
yeah, I agree with this statement. Not sure If I can agree to it being a limitation as I think they're both good SSDs, but if he was doing a RAID configuration then I guess there would be one SSD possibly limiting the other? Or maybe they wouldn't be able to RAID?
I had the Samsung a long time ago and picked up the intel on a really good sale later on.
I didn't get to ellabortate earlier...didn't have time...but I love this build! My only questions are, what are your temps, and when was it built?
Not sure I'd want a computer built by Daedalus of Greek mythology. Good build all the same.
More pics! Doppee
How were you able to fit the eATX board in an ATX chassis? I have the same HAF XB EVO and didn't think it would fit. Beautiful build!
A few more pics would've been nice, especially of the outside of the case.
MORE MORE more pictures!!!
how is the monitor?
Hey how is the psu holding up? Let me know thanks.
Really like those cables. It really changes the look and makes it clean, but It's really difficult to get it here in the middle east.
How's your computer doing now that you have a couple of months using it? Any problems with the X99 board? Nice looking layout you have there. If my new build could look half that clean and uncluttered I would be happy.
I plan on the same CPU (i7-5930) haven't decided on which X99 board, 32gb Crucial of some sort, several Samsung 840s 256gb SSD, a 500gb SSD, either Samsung or Crucial, one of the Quadro GPUs. Hopefully I can use my current power supply - a 750w and my current case (Lian Li) and my Noctua cooler. I also plan to use my NEC 2090uxi monitor and my 2nd display (a cheap Samsung) until they die - I do a lot of photoshop type stuff and the NEC is excellent for that use, but expensive. Also, I'm hoping that the m.2 market starts up - when it does I will be sticking one of those in my build.
I will post my build when I get around to doing it. Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated - especially on X99 boards.
I would recommend getting a monitor that supports 4k because the 970s in sli can handle that kind of resolution.
How are the Sennheiser headphones working out for you?
How well does that monitor perform?
Did you have any trouble putting the eatx board in there, i'm planning to use the rampage 5 extreme
Hey AGuyFromOhio! Fantastic build. I'm doing a similar project piece by piece. I've already got the HAF XB EVO case and I want to use the NAXT Kraken X61 for CPU cooling... I'm interested in where/how you mounted the rad. Care to share? Thanks!
Is the Toshiba 2tb hard drive reliable?
How many fans does your case support?
Can you watch Blu ray discs with that monitor? As in, does HDCP work?
That's some thin RAM ;)
Nice setup! I was just wondering if the Acer GN246HL is a G-Sync or a Free-Sync monitor.
Just wondering, thank you!
Does your Acer - GN246HL 24.0" 1920x1080 144Hz Monitor have “Display port”
Nice sleeved cables
nice build the red and black are nice but the blue is weird(on the gpu) but you make it look good i wish there were more pictures but nice over all build in general
Where did you get the clear spacers for you cables?
Just search for "pc cable combs" as you can get them from many places.
Thanks, wasn't sure what exactly they were called.
SERIOUSLY?! THIS BUILD IS SO OVERKILL!
I ask again: ARE YOU RENDERING SKYSCRAPERS IN REAL TIME AT 28K?!
I hardly would call an i7, 16gb of RAM and two 970's overkill. Maybe for gaming at 1080p, but there's no real way to go overkill with a build for 3D modeling unless you're watercooling the harddrives or something.
There is a huge difference between design modelling and other 3D modelling. Most 3D modelling applications can barely use two threads effectively.
Rendering is a whole other ball game though. If this was for design work, I wouldn't even recommend the 970s.
Water cooling hard drives for 3D modeling? sigh
I've made complex 3D models with a cobbled together crap PC with a Pentium 4 2.8GHz w/ HT, 512MB of RAM and a copy of Windows XP.
3D modeling/vectoring isn't that complicated, it's RENDERING that needs power like no tomorrow.
But, if you can get 1080p@120FPS on Ultra High BF4 with an i5, 8 gigs of RAM, and a GTX 780/Radeon R9 270x, what the heck are you going to be using this beast for?
Maybe it is self-explanatory?
