pfSense firewall in a compact mini-itx form factor using many recycled parts. Purchased new for this build were the ribbon cable for the quad NIC, the case, the heatsink and the mSATA hard drive. More than powerful enough for a home firewall.

Using an i5 3475S CPU and modded case to allow fitting in the Intel QuadNIC Had an additional 4GB stick of memory so it's running on 12GB

Powered by a Dell laptop power supply

The Noctua fan was in the perfect spot to mount a corner of the Intel card on to keep it in place

I have a similar system but with a 3470S and slimmer case. The NH-L9i is brilliant. It's amazing that the 3470S is 65w as a low power chip vs today's 8400 at the same wattage but 6 cores and much faster.

What's the wattage on your laptop brick? is it 12v or 19v?
