Description

At first I started building my own pc back on 2015. My CPU were i7 4790k and a gigabyte 980 TI On BIG case which I totally forgot the name of the case.
So I rebuild everything from cpu/case/ram, gpu ect.

The motherboard: At first I was thinking over either go for the asus maximus code or formula, code had the things I ever needed for a motherboard but then the back plate on back of asus maximus formula caught me and you can also water cool with the Formula which is a plus. Looks great also.

CPU: This may not be the latest CPU but it does get the job done. I did pick a Rockit Cool's kit and decided to try delidding. The Temp are about 17 degrees cooler at 10 at idle. At this time I never did try to overclocked the CPU as I dont' feel that's never needed.

CPU Cooler: I went ahead and picked up a NZXT Kraken 62. This cooler is amazing from the functionality and appearance. It performs very well and RGB is the way to go to make the system stand out.

RAM; At first I did picked up a 4 corsair ram stick from Newegg which was the Corsair Vengeance RGB. I was building a Red and black theme so I decided to switch over to Corsair Dominator Platinum ROG. This looks great on the system and fast as well.

GPU: I went with a 2 MSI 1080 TI. This is overkill for what I am doing with the system and with a 1440p 144hz monitor. It does look awesome but SLI when gaming is not needed as sometimes it degrades the fps depending the the game I was playing.

Storage: I went with a 240GB for my windows 1 Western Digital 1TB SSD for my storage and 1 500GB samsung Evo 960 for gaming and or Video editing.

Case: The Phanteks Evol TG, this case has it all from aesthetics and functionality. It goes perfect with a red and black theme.

Fans: I did 1 140 Noctua from the back for exhaust and 9 Noctua 120NF from the upper exhaust and 2 installed from the front radiator and 3 from back for push and pull configuration. The Temps are perfect for the CPU 27C on idle and 39c on low load. GPU temps from 30C on ilde and 50C on gaming load.

Power Supply: The Corsair AX1200 may be enough for this build as I have not encounter with power loss from the SLI and the rest of the other parts.

Other Peripheral are the Asus Rog Swift along with corsair RGB keyboard, mouse and mouse pad. Also installed a RGB Strips.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. I will continue to upgrade this when a new graphics card release.

Thanks for looking!

Super nice build. I just have one question, why 2 1080TI?

  • 17 points

Dual 1080ti builds are perfect if you want to run Minesweeper or Spider Solitaire at a reasonable frame rate

*To run minesweeper AND Spider solitare at the same time without dropping too many frames.

With 2x 1080 TIs you can also RECORD minesweeper AND Spider solitaire still without dropping too many frames.

Thanks! I just removed it for the meantime im no need for 2 1080Ti when doin gaming, maybe when a 4k 144hz monitor then i'll reconsider.

Not really, my 1080 Ti and 8700K at 5.1 GhZ push out 120+ FPS in GTA at a custom mix of High/Ultra settings with 4x MSAA at 1440p Ultrawide

I have two 1080 ti's in SLI and struggle to maintain 110fps in GTA, running 2560x1440, if grass is set to anything above 'normal'.

GTA is CPU bound

I'll see if I can run it over the weekend, and keep an eye on my CPU usage. I would think a 4-core 4.5ghz, i7-6700k would be able to handle it fine.

Why spend so much on ram?

  • 1 point

Because you can't put a price on good aesthetics, that RAM is hot.

Amazing build!!! why did you get that CPU instead of the new one? it costs almost the same and is better. It looks amazing!!! how are those cards in SLI working? you could use them without SLI and might get better performance

Thanks! This was actually build before the 8 gen CPU was released. Just didn't have the time to post it through here. Will be waiting for the next Gen CPU. Running SLI at Witcher 3 all max out 1440P monitor with some mods/graphics as well was running aboub 80fps-110fps depending on the location in-game. Just recently removed it and installed a capture card. :)

Actually this was build before the 8 gen CPU was release. Just didn't had the time to post it through here. I don't mind the 8-10 FPS from the 8 gen at this time. Will eventually look forward into the 9th gen upgrade. Thanks for looking!

I was just suggesting other people who build this PC to upgrade to 8th gen CPU because then they can probably use a Z370 motherboard to upgrade to 9th gen cpu

why the ps4 on your main monitor when you have a beast of a gaming machine?? Anyways, superb build +1

Because i will not be able to take advantage of the 144hz from asus monitor. The LG monitor which is only capped at 60hz just enough for the ps4 pro. Thanks!

If you do, make sure to use Grizzly Conductonaut. That's what I use on mine :) and am able to get way better temps, at least a 40c drop, my chip was kinda bad on temps always.

Before I delidded it, 5GHz was at 1.325v for stability and hitting 90-100c, with a idle of 60c at normal clocks even., after I was able to do 5GHz at 1.275v near max 70c. I really love this stuff. I was able to do 5.3GHz only for a short time tho, cause of my cooler.

  • 2 points

very nice! i'll probably use your settings and play with it a little maybe i could reach 5.0GHZ with 1.275v. Then will make my way to higher clock speed if it is stable. Thanks.
