I've been building this computer for the last month. it's been a lot of work but i've been liking the results so far.

I did a lot of custom work on this one. just a few of the parts customized were:

*1. New motherboard tray made from 1/4 Plexi

*2. Lots of carbon Fiber Wrap

*3. Painting various parts to match the theme of Mass Effect

*4. Custom vinyl stickers made for build.

*5. Custom covers for the wire management channels made from 1/8 plexi

*6. wire channel down middle of back compartment to hide some wires and connections

*7. Custom sleeved power supply extensions.

*8. I originally thought i would do Hardline but once i saw the Zero Maintenance tubing i was going to use in the back i liked it better and changed the front to that.

*9. 5 inch monitor that will be hooked up as a desktop extension to display system stats.

*10. Customized the network cabinet it's going to sit on top of to match the lighting of the computer through an Asus Aura Terminal that will be plugged into the computer.

*11. Customized the Largest monitor of my 4 with RGB lights that are plugged into the Aura Terminal and will cycle the same as the lights in the computer.

Currently running CPU @5.1Ghz at idle temp of 36c. Memory at the stock 3600. GPU at stock 1350

Few questions. 1.) What do you do for a living? 2.) Can I have a job? 3.) How's a Fallout themed build sound?

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

LOL.. Let just say i own my own businesses and "m currently not hiring at any of them. I've seen some really awesome Fallout builds in the past. I've thought about it as well because i'm a fan of the series. not so much the latest entry tho.

Holy cow. That is a monster of a case. Looks great.

eliekdahl 2 points 4 months ago

Can it play roblox?

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 5 points 4 months ago

that and everything else you would ever want to play

At least for the next few years.

Dang, Case is bigger than my fish tank.

Like it a lot.

Build may be overkill for your monitor. Single RTX2080Ti will push frames past the 60Hz Refresh. Might be time to upgrade to the Predator 4K 144Hz Monitor.

I am in process of building something similar to you but one thing that I am having trouble with is the price of 32GB RAM. It must have been heartbreaking when you hit the purchase button. I will be at that place shortly just waiting to see if a price drop happens.

my main display is an ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q 34" and i'm not in a hurry to upgrade it. I originally had 32gb of DDR4-4700 but was having a really hard time with the $1200 price tag. i originally wanted to keep this build under 8000 but it just kept adding up and i figured what the hell i only build a new one for myself every 2 to 3 years. There is a lot of stuff that isn't on this parts list. this computer probably totaled more then 10k after all the other work i did to the case and the other things in my office to make it all match the new computer.

That is a pretty decent monitor :D Yeah DDR is ridiculously priced. While 16GB is enough for gaming and not too absurdly priced (ignoring > 3200 Corsair Dominator or Gskill Trident Royal) a lot of us use PC's for more than just gaming. 16GB shows it's limitations on some of my workloads and simulations. Got to do 32GB or more.

I love your build! It has inspired me so much! Could you provide a link to where you found your small 9.5" monitor? I would like to use one too, but I like the way you did yours. Also, how did you mount it?

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 17 days ago

i found the monitor on Ebay and i mounted it with double sided auto trim tape

Wow. As a huge fan of Mass Effect, this rig almost brought a tear of happiness to my eye. This thing can probably house EDI. (Come to think of it, your build reminds me a bit of her AI Core room on the Normandy). Time and money well spent on this beauty. :D

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 8 days ago

As you can tell i'm a huge fan too! Thanks!

MicroPOpa 1 point 3 months ago

All that and only 32gb ram?

Meithen 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Wow, this turned out great!

SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

How did you do the custom graphic on the screen?

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

the backgroud just made in the default paint program and some logo's i found on the web. they i configured the gauges in AIDA64

SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

Why did you put the companies logos though, it seems like with something like this the only brand you would like visible is mass effect.

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

it's all a matter of personal preference i guess is the best way to put it. i did have another version of the background with the different mass effect emblems down the sides

SerialScaresMe 1 point 2 months ago

Ah, got it.

Tonaga 1 point 10 days ago

What is that Small screen in the case? I'm looking to do something like it just don't know how.

Tonaga 1 point 9 days ago

what program do you use for it? i see cam is a popular option.

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 9 days ago

AIDA64 extreme

i think your actual bottleneck will be at the sata bus since whatever hard drives you use will have to be run off the pch. That particular processor only has 16 PCI lanes to start and with each card taking 8 that would present your whole PCI lane budget.

FuglyFred 1 point 3 months ago

Okay, would you mind explaining what "the pch" means? Sata bus as in like another communication lane.. somewhere other than between the storage and MoBo? I am pretty new to this.

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

the hierarchy for main board communication is CPU, Memory, PCI-E Lanes, then PCH. Anything on the PCI-E lanes communicates faster then the items run off the PCH. The PCH manages all the items like USB, keyboard, mouse, fan controllers, sata ports, network. The PCI-E lanes are for Vid Cards, high end network cards, M.2, and U.2 devices The PCH has been generally used for hard drives till we started to have enough PCI-E Lanes to support connecting M.2 and U.2 SSDs directly to the CPU. This made the hard drives using PCI-E lanes faster. Ideally you want enough PCI-E lanes to support your hard drives and video cards.

FuglyFred 1 point 3 months ago

So PCH is the socket where you insert the cpu? And the Sata bus is the Sata cable between the Storage and MoBo? What if i just run with M.2 storages to get rid of the Sata interface?

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

there are 2 ways to run M.2 drives. off the pch or on the pci-e lanes depending on what the mainboard supports. if you run them off the pci-e lanes they take up 4 pci-e lanes.

Varatras submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

that can go on either PCH or PCI-E depending on the mainboard.

FuglyFred 1 point 3 months ago

By the way, This PC you made looks quite amazing. Nice to see a craftsman like this
