Finally pulled the trigger on a proper gaming PC, with room for editing and other things down the road. Pinched my pennies for some components, future-proofed others. All in all, I'm very very happy with it.
Went together like a dream with one of my computer genius friends directing the build and setup. Everything arrived intact, everything works great, no problems so far. Solid build.
Great processor! Gets the job done, and 6 cores is unusual at this price point. I would definitely favor it over comparable i5's for those extra cores. Stock cooler works great as well, which meant I didn't need to grab a third party cooler.
Love this motherboard. Sturdy, took everything I needed, and the LEDs look great.
Solid RAM, does its job well, and the thermal shielding looks badass.
This drive is awesome. Loaded my OS on here and startup and shutdown times rarely go over 6-7 seconds. Definitely sticking with Samsung for SSD needs down the road.
Does its job, quiet, capable. Exactly what I needed.
This thing is juicy! Had all the bells and whistles I wanted- dual fans, bit of lighting for the logo, 6gb VRAM instead of 3, and good thermal shielding. Handles anything I can throw at it and asks for more, and since I plan to stay at 1080p for awhile I should be good to keep this card for the foreseeable future. Even got it at market price from EVGA after a couple days on the waiting list instead of the super-inflated mining prices. Would recommend.
I love this case. The two fans are whisper quiet, there's a good bit of room for more if I need them, and the lights look great. Good cable management space in the back, nice view window in the front, and came in my favorite shade of blue. Good case.
This PSU is a monster! I can say confidently that I won't need to worry about upgrading for a long time. Puts out way more power than I could ever use now, lots of options for cabling, and runs nice and smooth.
It's Windows. Easy to install, does what I need. All's well.
I wasn't sure I really needed a sound card, but having finished the build, man am I glad I picked this up! The difference in audio output is laughable. Not that the motherboard's built-in audio is anything to sneeze at, but this card just cranks everything up to 11. Awesome buy for the price, and honestly it would probably still have been worth it at double the cost I got it for.
Wireless Network Adapter
Good-looking adapter that does its job well. I can't be sure I'll always have ethernet in the places I'm living for the next few years, so I wanted to make sure I'd be alright. The bluetooth functionality is what pushed me over the edge for this one, and I'm glad I got it at the start of the build rather than farther down the road. Just makes the computer even more capable than it already is.
This monitor is spectacular. I don't play a lot of online FPS games or others where refresh rate is vital, so I was able to look at 60Hz monitors, and this one satisfied all my wants. Good size, 1080p which is all I need, and a great price point. The display settings are intuitive and user-friendly, fantastic pixel response time, the low blue-light function is really sweet for late nights to be less of a strain on your eyes, and the built-in speakers are surprisingly good. I would like to go to a dual-monitor setup sometime down the road, and in all likelihood I'll probably just pick up another one of these.
One of the crown jewels of the build for me. Really cool-looking mouse, intuitive RGB functions with the easy-to-use Logitech software, and smooth, easy DPI adjustment. Fits my hand nicely, very satisfying to use, and I especially enjoy being able to switch between segmented and continuous scrolling with a single button.
