Description

Why Niji? Cuz I'm a stupid weeb and I think Niji is like Japanese for rainbow or somthing and this is an RGB build.

Why are you using Maxwell gpus? Why not. I still have them and they are still great gpus I don't have much of a reason to upgrade yet.

This is my PC I just recently built. I built this more for editing and rendering not so much for gaming. It didn't prove that much more effective for gaming then my old PC (but its fine because gaming is not its sole purpose) and I wish I could have got a 7820x instead So i could have a fast 8 core and not a 6 core , i just could not find a great price on one and missed out on a great deal for a used one because i was second guessing myself, so I'll probably sell this CPU whenever a fasterer 8 core cpu comes out. This PC is new except for the gpus which are still great cards, the power supply which I was using in my old pc and the monitor, which i have had for about 8 months now. Everything else is new.

I ended up delidding the cpu and wanted to try to get a good oc on it but i guess i am not very lucky because i was only able to get 4.9ghz. fixed an issue with cam adjusting speed according to coolant temps and not cpu. changing this dropped temps a lot and i have been able to push 5ghz and im pretty happy now and may try to push 5.1

Built for 2 reasons 1.) Wanted a workstation / rendering PC 2.) I had the extra funds and finally wanted to make a PC that looked really nice because I could afford to put more money into it's looks

I'm really happy with how this PC came out looking, but the amount of cables produced by all the RGB stuff is unbearable I don't think I'll go full RGB in the future again. Just too many cables

biggest problem is that all 3 corsair 120mm rgb fans where suppose to be on the top of the case, but the cpu power cable blocked one from fitting so i threw it in the front of the case on one of the gpu radiators. does not look as good as if it was all neat in a line at the top but whatever

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

will never buy a kraken cooler again, it looks cool but the software pretty much loses it for me, nzxt cam is a joke. Plus the wierd way it mounts with the braket having some wierd spacing caused it to not rest properly on the cpu so i was getting 75 degrees idle and it went way past 100 on load. I had to re seat it several times. it looks cool though...

Case

Its a decent case but it gets a lot of flack because i think people just over hyped it to somthing it wasnt (people saying its a HAF series case even though it is not). It was exactly what i was expected so i enjoy the case. it should probably be a bit cheaper, like $120 and it does have a few litlle issues but its a decent case and looks nice.

Sound Card

bought this and the schiit fulla 2 to compare them, and in terms of sound quality these come out on top and the lighting fits my build, the software is pretty finicky though but actually bearable compared to nzxt cam so i dont mind. just make sure to set youre speakers or headphones to "Direct" mode because it bypasses the software and sounds better (i think so at least) unless you need software enhancements like the virtual surround.

Headphones

i get flack for getting these over the Sennheiser HD 598 but i tried both and didnt really like the sennheiser ones. The trebble on these are a little higher then i would like but they still sound great and are the second most comortable headphones i have ever worn. Main problem is the wing support flaps are too loose and fall down on my head so i had to fixate it with a rubber band.

Speakers

I fell in love with these the minute i tried them, best speakers I have ever used.

I'm guessing you're planning to do content creation of sorts?

I'm in school for game design and 3d animation while also self teaching myself at the same time so I'm mostly using it for that sort of stuff

Ya I think I have the HTC Vive in the parts list. I forgot I had it in the list until I posted it but I got it used for fairly cheap

Nice! Discounts like that are the best and I'm sure it had either minimal to no wear and tear or damage on it!

Hey! Can I get an opinion on the Mobo you're using? What is it like to work with it? Is this onboard wifi? Soundcard?

Its a great mobo, not that much different from the hero series but i always like the code/ formula boards because of the on board little display that wil list 2 digit codes that translate to different meanings on a chart in the manual. really helpful for troubleshooting problems with the computer. Sound card is same as the hero 9, 10 and code 9. Its great on board sound for most people but i just want somthing a bit more. i always feel like the quality of it feels a little flat even though its very clear but its still pretty good. it does have on board wifi and bluetooth but u haev to connect this corded antena to the back of youre mobo to get the most range out if it which i dont like. you can either just take off the ugly antena thing and gimp youre connection quality or you can get seperate router antenas to plug directly into the back ports instead of having some long dumb cord going to an antena which clutters up stuff. I had mahor issues with asus aura sync not detecting anything or working ( the official one from the code X download site) until i found a download somwhere for a different version of aura sync and it just worked. Over all i think its a really great board but i think most people might want to just get the asus hero x wifi to save about $40, unless you really like the looks of the code and the other little minor features that some people including me really like

Hello, I have the same mother board, and a 1TB m.2 960 evo but it’s not being recognized, didn’t know if you had the same issue or not. If you did, how did you fix it.

So I'm trying to figure out if I want some noctua nf-a14 3000rpm or the hd fans you have. So how are the fans and how is the colors and looks of them?

sorry for late response. this probably wont matter now but i think they are great fans but theyre exspensive as sin and u need the other commander pro with it. i honestly dont use the lights that much anymore cuz i just got sick of it so i have them off most of the time lol. as for airflow i think they are decent but im not really one to ask about fan performance.

quick question is it necessary to have the commander pro? Couldn't you just use the included controller? Also doesn't the nzxt kraken come with pre-applied thermal paste? No trying to be mean by the way I'm just trying to research parts for my pc build

sorry for late reply i dont use this site that much, you probably found your solution already but incase anyone else sees this and wants to know. the included controller has a few basic effects and colors to shift through but you need the commander pro to do any more complicated tweaking and for a lot more colors so i would highly recomend that or else i dont think youre getting your money's worth

Bro, I love this case so much. I'm planning on getting for my first build and I was thinking whether or not it's worth it. Also, would you suggest getting a 980 ti over a GTX 1060-6gb?

  • 1 point

late af but a 980 ti is much faster, similar to a 1070, but a 1070 is 20 dollars more on ebay, and the 1060 is cheaper but slower.

sorry for not responding. i love the case but dont get it. newer versions are coming out soon. a mesh version for better airflow and another one thats redesigned a bit with some more higher quality features. if you can get a used 980 ti for a good price then go for it. it should beat a 1060 and in most cases a 1070 beats a 980 ti by a little bit but 980 tis usually have better OC potential to come out next to the 1070 its still a great card and im not getting rid of mine until the next gen

I decided to go with the 1060, I found a good price for it. I am going to upgrade to a 1070 later and then hopefully get one of the new Volta series cards.

Hi man. I need your help. I am having really hard time connecting soundblaster Led strip. It just doesnt work. RGB on ae5 works perfectly, but strip doesnt light up at all...any tips for me?

the AIO's everywhere looks messy, i would recommend you to mount the kraken in front of the H500 for optimal performance, as it's proven that mounting it on top would increase temps by a long shot.

I hope you don't use the rainbow all the time, but we all have our preferences.

I was really tempted to go ryzen but I didn't see it as much as an upgrade to my old 4770k. This PC is for render and stuff but i also do gaming on it and ryzen just didn't see like much of an upgrade to my old cpu. I'll consider upgrading to zen 2 or whatever if that looks nice
