Description

This build is a mixture of second hand and new parts, intended to be used for 1080p gaming and some light video encoding. Nothing too strenuous though.

I have always liked dual chamber cases and MATX form factor, so the Corsair 280x was an easy choice. However I quickly found out that with two radiators installed, pump mounting options become somewhat limited. I have seen a couple of builds use the grill near the motherboard IO, but did not really like the tube runs. So in the end the pump / reservoir combo was installed in the rear chamber, which did require a couple of small modifications. To be honest my DIY skills are very limited, but armed with a drill and step-bit, managed to install two pass through fittings. Not going to the lie the rear chamber is not the most organised, but I managed to cram everting in eventually.

All of the water cooling components are from a company called Bykski, purchased via Ali Express. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and will more than likely use them again. One thing to note though is that all of the fans and RGB use a proprietary controller, with a further remote to change speed and lighting effects etc. However, there's also a choice of connecting to the motherboard RGB header. The only minor gripe is that the fans are somewhat loud, even on the lowest setting.

Temperatures are good enough for my use:

CPU Idle: 30 CPU Load: 55

GPU Idle: 28 GPU Load: 48

It's mighty cold in Scotland at the moment, so I guess those temps will rise at some point ;0. Thanks folks and best wishes for the festive season.

Thanks buddy. Most of the water cooling items were bought from Bykski Pro Store - https://pro2mod.aliexpress.com/store/3002061?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000002.2.16fc4da5raa7Jf. They often do promotions, so at times it is possible to save even more.

Nice to see another Scot on the site. Nice build with plenty room for upgrading. Loving the pink accent colour.

Likewise, speaking of an upgrade, I like the look of your 2080 RTX..... I've always found EVGA cards to be reliable.

Agree regarding the case, there seems to be a distinct lack of options for MATX form factor these days.

Can you put 2 140mm fans down using a matx motherboard? Or it must be itx?

Thank you kindly. My one gripe is that I should have stuck with the Corsair LL120 RGB fans!
