I was asked by my in-laws to build a new PC for their son for Christmas as a family present. This is what I came up with!

This PC will mostly be used by my brother-in-law for office work, casual internet browsing, and media consumption... Nothing too intensive. However he used to like to game a bit and his son is getting to be the age where he may very likely catch the bug as well, so the 3400G is the perfect basis for exploring these interests. If they end up getting really into gaming and start pushing the limits of the integrated GPU, they can very easily add a dedicated GPU down the line. I already loaded up my entire DRM-free game library of 60+ games onto the HDD for them. :)

Now I just hope my BIL doesn't see this before Christmas!

Part Reviews

Incredible APU, from both a CPU and iGPU standpoint. Excellent value.

This is the cheapest ITX B450 board on my local market, but it is quite good. Solid internal connectivity and excellent rear I/O.

For the price, can't be beat.

Great SATA M.2 drive with a price often on-par with 2.5" SATA SSDs.

This is the second build I've done in this case and I'm still a huge fan of it. Excellent design and airflow.

Power Supply

The cheapest SFX PSU I could find, but quite nice nonetheless.

Optical Drive

Great value for money. This thing cost 12€ and it works well.

Operating System

It's Windows 10; what more is there to say?

Case Fan

Good quality, very cheap, performs well.

I bought 2 of the same mobo in the past couple of months. One of them had the latest BIOS on it, one I had to update. So I think it depends on if the store you buy it from has older or newer stock.
