Description

My name is Christian and this was a build for a client who is a real estate agent. He was looking for a computer that would be capable of doing emails, browsing, photoshop and premiere pro for light projects such as creating short video tours of a property and stuff like that. He didn't have a budget at all so I chose parts that would definitely be capable of doing light video editing for him. It took about 2 hours to build and I absolutely loved working in the Fractal Design Define Mini C. It's a fantastic case with brilliant cable management features however, the only thing that I thought was a bit annoying was the fact that motherboard standoffs were not pre installed, they took about 15 minutes to do. I have not been notified of any problems which is a good thing seeing as he lives an hour away and it would be a pain to go and service it for him. I was extremely happy with how the build came out and I don't have any photos with the windowed side panel because I took the photos at my house and the plastic was still on the window which I wanted him to take off at his house. Hope you all like the build and i'm going to start posting more builds I do on PCPartPicker.

Part Reviews

CPU

This CPU is pretty awesome, it handles everything that my client throws at it and it is definitely capable of doing light 4k video editing. It is slightly faster than the 6700k so it was the obvious choice. The packaging of the CPU was good which ensures that it doesn't get damaged in shipping.

CPU Cooler

I was really impressed with this cooler, it looks stunning and does a good job keeping the i7 7700k cool even under load. The black and white colour aesthetic went extremely well with the build. The instructions to install were very clear and it required very minimal effort to mount.

Motherboard

The motherboard PCB has brown lines on it which is kind of ugly. I didn't realise that when I chose it. You can't see it though in the case which is good. Other than that, it was one of the cheapest Z270 motherboards that was available in Australia which was good and it boots super quickly.

Memory

I really like the heat spreader on this ram and it was heavily discounted at the time of purchase which was great. It's very fast as well at 3000mhz.

Storage

Very fast SSD. The Samsung 850 EVO is pretty much the best SATA 3 SSD that you can buy and it was also on sale when it was purchased. It looks very sleek and I have been very impressed with it.

Storage

It's pretty quick. It doesn't get that loud which is good. I like the fact that it is 7200RPM.

Video Card

This has to be one of the sexiest graphics card. I love the black and red that MSI use on their cooler. It looks really good with the black case and white fans. The cooler is very quiet and the fans don't spin on idle which makes the build very silent.

Case

I really like this case. I'm just dying for Fractal Design to release a tempered glass version of this case because i'm going to be building my own personal rig soon and I would love to have a tempered glass side panel. The motherboard standoffs were not pre installed which was annoying but the cable management features were fantastic. It was extremely easy to conceal all the cables and the cutouts were in perfect positions.

Power Supply

I chose this power supply because the Fractal Design Define Mini C had a maximum power supply length of 165mm from what I remember. The PSU came nicely packaged and the fan is also silent on idle which is nice. The 24 pin cable was a bit stiff but other than that, I love the fact that it is modular and also very efficient.

Thanks so much mate. I agree with you, the H7 is pretty awesome looking especially compared to the cooler master 212 Evo which costs the same in Australia so the H7 was the obvious choice.

Nice build! What do you think of the Gigabyte logo (topleft), does it look ok with the rest of the build?

I don't have the build with me anymore as it was a client build however, I didn't even notice the logo and I think the CPU cooler blocks it. Thanks for the comment!
