Project: Aurora Alchemy
This PC is part of my home entertainment system. Overall the system is comprised of this PC, Xbox One X and Microsoft Surface Pro 3. The peripherals and monitors are shared with all the devices , providing easy and effective use of each and every device.
This PC takes full advantage of the RTX 2080, powering the amazing 4k IPS monitors. The 4K screens are accompanied by a classy vertically positioned Samsung Curved 1080p monitor on the left side. This layout provides the maximum screen real estate for multitasking during during gaming and when used as a workstation.
The 2600x was chosen for its high performance to cost ratio, which runs smoothly at 4.1GHz across all cores. Which is accompanied by the stunning and powerful EVGA RTX 2080. With the added room in the case, the EVGA XC Ultra with the larger heat-sink, provides flawless cooling when gaming at 4k, with temperature maxing out between 65-70c under full load. The G.Skills RAM both performs and looks great. With a high capacity (32GB), working across the many applications and multiple monitors is easy and problem free.
All fitted to the amazing Asus Crosshair VII Hero Motherboard, providing flawless performance and a great array of features. In addition to all the hardware is the almost controversial RGB lighting. With the current light scheme and wallpaper chosen to match my newly built, pride n' joy the Alchemy Arktos (Image 8).
The RGB combined with the vivid pink paracord GPU and 24 pin cables, pulls the components together, providing a futuristic, sleek and bright look, without going overkill. My chosen colour scheme tends to vary, with my more recent minimalistic approach to RGB being my favourite.
This rig will continue to be upgraded as time progresses. With its next upgrade steering towards the coming Ryzen 3900x or 3950x! (Just got to buy a flat first :D )
*Not to forget the featuring Halo Warthog and Brute Chopper taking residence in the case. With the Brute Chopper parked along side the SSDs and UNSC Warthog taking its place firmly on the GPU.
Successor: Aurora Delta (https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/b/kCTBD3)
Great CPU for the price point. With stable overclock to 4.1Ghz, Runs cool under high load with AIO, and the default cooler is surprisingly effective. Keeps up with 4k gaming without breaking a sweat (or temp spike)
Great cooler, stunning visually, with a unique plate. The fans run fast and push/pull a fair amount of air. Excellent when using to pull air into the case via the top case mounts. Keeps my OC 2600x 4.1GHz to a cool 35c idle and <70 high load.
EVGA XC Ultra has the larger heat-sink and provides flawless cooling when gaming at 4k and under high loads, with temperature maxing out between 65-70c under full load. Overclocks easily and well, with the Precision X1 software. Fans run cool and quietly, even at very high speeds. Using Precision X1 you can overclock the card, address the RGB and build your own fan curvature (Which makes overclocking this a card a gem!).
Plenty room, will huge space and accessibility for case fans and AIOs alike. Quite a few module components, allows you to move and adapt the layout to your preference and requirements. The option for 6 HDD trays and 4 SSD slots comes in very handy. (SSDs every-time :D )
Quality and Sturdy case with plenty of practical customisation.
Great display and a good price point. The VESA 100 ports make it great for floating and multi-monitor set-ups. The IPS display is just amazing and UI provides loads of options for addressing colour and black level.
