Description

Okay so, I titled me build "The Deal Breaker" simply because all of the parts I am using were all bought because of the deals I found at the time. All of the prices on the parts are what I payed for them at the time, which were all bought at different times for the most part. I didn't initially intend for a Red/White/Black color scheme but that's what ended up happening, and kind of just went with it. (I am open to any criticism/constructive criticism towards my build, It will help me out!)

CPU So my CPU was originally a 1600x, however I was a dummy and fried it, (don't ask me how) so I went back to Micro Center, (where I originally bought it) and with no warranties, they ended up accepting an exchange to a 2600x for 50 dollars. Why? I still do not know, just because of my Micro Center's kindness towards it's customers I guess, and I am very thankful that there is one nearby.

CPU Cooler Now I did not get this CPU Cooler on sale for very much, however I needed to get it because the Wraith simply wasn't cutting it in my configuration. I bought it because of it's excellence price to performance, and red LED's.

Motherboard While I was busy frying my 1600x, I also ended up frying my motherboard, however thankfully my motherboard was still eligible to be returned as a "received defective item", unlike my processor. While at Micro Center, I picked up this handsome board for 50 dollars used, with no IO shield unfortunately.

Memory Originally I had 8gb which was fine, before I had my 1080ti in there, So in anticipation to getting my 1080ti I decided to pick up these affordable Corsair Vengeance LPX, with 3000 MHz for my Ryzen CPU.

Storage My SSD was bought when SSD's were extremely expensive for some reason, so I kind messed up there but oh well, it's pretty good, nothing special. The WD Blue has been at 40 dollars consistently for awhile now, so it was a no-brainer, nothing special.

Graphics Card So, my 1080ti was one of the most recently purchased items on here. I bought it three weeks ago, roughly, for yes, 375 dollars, and some old hardware. The guy was looking to downgrade, and pick up some quick cash on Craigslist which i had never used before, and I was really sketched out. to go through with it. I had to drive 2 hours to meet him at his house where he showed me it worked perfectly fine, and It was done, he was actually pretty cool. Anyways it was quite the steal and definitely the best deal out of everything purchased. Yes it is working perfectly fine, and no he did not use it for mining, just casual gaming supposedly.

Case This case is a beauty, I thought of picking up the NZXT H500, however it was 20 dollars more expensive, with less of what I was looking for. Plus four of my friends already have that case so I was trying to be different I guess. Thermals aren't the best on this case however, hence the Hyper 212 upgrade.

Boring Stuff Power Supply, bought it for full price I think or close to it, It does it's job, and It's semi modular, so maybe one day I'll put colorful cables in it, who know's Case Fans I picked up a 2 pack of the Corsair fans for 14 dollars, because of price, brand, and the red LED's. The Phanteks Fans are in the front for intake. One of them came with the case, and the other was leftover from one of my friend's builds.

Peripherals I got a cheap, metal back-plated, backlit blue switch knokoff that I actually really like for 30 dollars. The G502 for 40, an Insignia 24" 1080p 144hz monitor for 120, Used Arctis 7 Bluetooth headset from a friend for 50 dollars, A second IPS 1080p 60hz AOC 21" for 20 bucks from a friend, and Harman Kardon Soundsticks from my uncle for free.

Let me know how you like it, or what you would change, Thanks!

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU for the value, and upgrade path, and versatility, with all those extra cores, and threads.

CPU Cooler

Cheap, looks good, performs just as good.

Motherboard

Looks good, nice little red accent lighting, solid feeling motherboard, nothing seemed cheap.

Memory

Can't beat the price, and quality for performance at this price.

Storage

Wish I bought at a different time, and it's not the fastest SSD in the world, but still miles ahead of my WD Blue

Storage

Nothing to complain about, reliable, cheap, mass storage.

Video Card

Amazing card, destroys any game still at 1080p, and feeds all 144 frames that my monitor needs.

Case

Great looking case, super premium, all metal chassis, however airflow isn't the best.

Power Supply

It's a cheap reliable power supply, with enough wattage 5/5.

Case Fan

Pretty quite, look good, and are very cheap what else could you want?

Case Fan

They do their job, even if they aren't as pretty as the Corsairs.

Wow pretty good deal at the gpu. But 2 hours drive and meet at his house, that was balsy move. I wouldn't do that myself. It could be scam or theft.

See now that’s exactly why I was sketched out but he turned out to be a pretty cool guy, so I think everything worked out quite well!

haha, on my local news last week, there was a case like this one. The victim was invited to the suspect house, and was killed. The motives is money. Unfortunately turned out to be a murder case.

Public spaces is the best option to have a deal with strangers.

Wotta deal on the GPU! I've done house craigslist pickups, never 2 hours away though. While a public space is often better, there are ways to safeguard a house deal; mainly, you make sure the other party knows that other people know your plans.

Yeah I made sure to not go alone and dragged a friend up there with me, It was pretty sketchy but we did it at his house because he wanted to test all of my components and show me that the 1080ti was in working condition.

Nice build! You definitely lucked out on some of the deals there. Especially the graphics card. Good thing you walked outta that one with both your kidneys :P

It was either risking both of my kidneys for the deal, or losing one of them anyways for a full price 1080ti haha

You should look into getting a GPU support to keep your card more stable. It looks like it's sagging a lot, that's a heavy card! They're pretty cheap and it's definitely worth it to keep your stuff in good shape. Nice build!

Yeah I actually noticed that looking at the pictures a little bit more, I’m not used to having such a massive card, before this I had a little 1060 haha

there is a guy on etsy who makes custom GPU stands, (you can get a custom desigh on it!) and I think that it would look good with your build and it would fix the problem of the GPU sagging here is the link to the guys etsy page https://www.etsy.com/shop/DreambigByRay
