Description

Decided to get my little brother into PC gaming after seeing him wasting tons of money on $60 games for the xbox on top of the online subscription that he has to pay for. All parts except the RAM and mouse/keyboard were bought used on /r/hardwareswap and ebay. Prices that I paid are included in the parts list. The machine runs well after being put together although I didnt exactly win the silicon lottery with the cpu and can only get up to 4.3GHz stable with something around 1.36 VCore although I may just step down the OC to 4.0GHz.

Where can you get a legal copy of Windows for $25? Did it come in a bundle with something?

Nice build. :)

That ain't no legit key

That's what I suspect.

In theory, someone can sell you their old OS (with or without the used hardware), but it is kinda pointless since they'll need some kind of OS too. Why buy a new license when one could reuse the old license key?

Unless they are moving to a different OS, that is.

Do not suggest that subreddit here. Those keys are not legitimately distributed and break MS ToS.

Sale of software and keys from that site often violates the ToS or are resold licenses purchased via fraudulent credit card. Recommending, suggesting, advising, encouraging, hinting, or in any way implying these keys as a solution or option is not allowed on this site.

The sale of those keys violate Microsoft ToS, and the keys may be unexpectedly disabled. Recommending, suggesting, advising, encouraging, hinting, or in any way implying these keys as a solution or option is not allowed on this site.

they will give you a brand new key that is guaranteed to work if that one is flagged as bad

pretty much sounds like they are not dealing with genuine product keys.

if I had a little brother I would do the same. I don't have a little brother so from time to time I give parts to my older bro!

Hi there, just curious, what kind of games is he playing and how well does this rig perform?

I just bought new RAM and a new SSD for my old 2009 PC and am kicking around the idea of upgrading the GTS 250 card to a 750 TI (its running a i7-860 so not too terrible still).

Thanks!

I havent installed any intensive games yet but the 750ti should be able to play most games out there at 1080p as long as your cpu is not bottlenecking it. From the benchmarks i am seeing it can play skyrim on ultra, gta5 on high settings(~70fps), and far cry 4 on medium settings (~40fps).

Awesome, if I can upgrade this one it'll save me a bundle! Thanks for the answer.

I bet your little brother loves it. I mean, the keyboard has fancy LEDs so must be very good. hehe

craves for a few benchmarks

To give this build just a little bit of a boost to increase frame rates on games what would be suggested?

Wow! Might build this one once I get enough money, question? What's the FPS like for GTAV and can this run Battlefield 1?

I like it! It just makes me wonder though, what games can It run 30fps+?

That stock cooler tho.

no need for anything better when its only cooling a g3258

temps with 1.36 volts and stock cooler?

  • 1 point

The stock cooler should be able to handle the 4.0Ghz OC on the G3258, I would not push it any further on the stock cooler though. Getting an aftermarket cooler will quiet the rig down though.

yh that's what I though, 4Ghz is the norm for stock cooler overclocking on the G3258 I was wondering how cool it was at 4.3Ghz.

I get around 75-80c under load in prime95 running at 4.3GHz and 1.32 VCore and 3.3GHz uncore

I don't see 4.3Ghz being that much worse in the grand scheme of things, but its not something I would want to be testing with my own parts. lol
