Description

This build is my main machine, I have figured out that whenever new hardware comes out I have a tendency to want it.

It's a very capable machine and does all the tasks I need it to do. These tasks comprise of the following: - Games ( CSGO, Rocket League, Minecraft, DOOM, BattleBorn, The Witcher 3 and GTA V) - AutoCAD 2015, Sony Vegas Pro 12.0 and Microsft Office - Chrome(even with 8gb, I get great performance even though I don't really close tabs)

Not many pictures sadly but I do have a video/time-lapse/model shots/Warhol eat your heart out/this is getting ridiculous.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Great cooler for the price I paid(£15.99 from ebuyer.com)

Quiet operation but keeps temps relatively low at idle and during load.

Video Card

Oh baby, this GPU has taken most of what I have thrown at it! Great performer, not much overclocking headroom at it failed UNigen Valley test when i tried to bump up the clocks.

NB: the card comes pre OC'ed so the chip is already at its limit.

Case

Love the case and the Carbon Vinyl wrapping went well in my opinion, first time trying this method.

Great ITX build! As for the overclocks the 380X is a factory overclocked 380. So pushing it further is pretty much not gonna happen. How's the Hitachi HD holding up? I actually considered getting one for my build. All in all a great little monster you created.

Yeah i wasn't surprised when it couldn't push out some extra hertz, the Hard drive is holding up pretty well. Literally just a backup drive atm.

Yeah I figured it was for mass storage. Exactly what I would use it for. Pics, vids, other misc. stuff just to keep my SSD freed up. Think I'm gonna grab a 1TB m.2 for my new rig and get one of those hitachis as a back up.

Would definately recommend it !

I don't think I'd characterize the 380X simply as a factory overclocked 380 since it has more resources available (texture units and shader units).

I would because the fps difference between the 2 is like 3-5 fps.

Why did you go ddr3 instead of ddr4?

DDR3L, the motherboard supports DDR3L.

Thank you for that clarification

I'm planning on putting a build together with the same GPU & CPU, how are they holding up for gaming?

I play at 1080p and haven't had any issues.

Hey, what colour was the motherboard? It looks brown in pics (pcb) but would it get away with it in a white/black themed build? Cheers

  • 1 point

It is brownish, in terms of a white and black build it would depend on the lighting and the colour of the other components. bare in mind the chipset heatsink is a light Golden colour too. have a look at the MSI krait series for your CPU if you really want black and white.

Ok, cheers. The case has a tinted window and im spray painting the heatsink white so it should be ok

Hey there!

its still going only with a change in gpu's actually. went down to a 460x a few months back and its still keeping up with GTA V, Warframe and CSGO at 1080p
