Description

This here is an interesting build that I've completed just weeks before I build my new beast with an i5-8600k and GTX 1070.

Long story short, I found someone's thrown-out computer tower that had most of its components inside. I needed to buy an ethernet PCI adapter because the regular motherboard one was busted, and a hard drive because they kept theirs.

I opted for a GeForce GT 710 because it was cheap and I wanted really any GPU, but it's performance is significantly bottle-necked by the CPU at about 40% capacity. I will consider upgrading the CPU to fix this issue later.

When all is said and done, this was a fun little side project that is good for (some) flash games, and it was fun to mess around with Linux for the first time as well. Worth the experience with older modeled stuff!

Probably the best computer in existence is one that you get for free AND works.

The GT 1030 was a perfect video card for your build. The GT 710 in my opinion is a nightmare.

Good to know, I didn't really look into them too far.

Interesting indeed!

This thing might be able to handle light games like GTA San Andreas, Portal, and Left 4 Dead respecatbly well as well.

Nice! It's not my main build, which has an i5-8600k and 1070, but I might look at that stuff later for a sibling
