I've been saving for three years to get this build. Not really old enough to have a sustainable job XP. I wanted something that would be awesome right now and have room to be even more awesome in the future. For me, the X99 chipset was the best choice. With the upgradablity to the 3.0 GHz, 8 core behemoth that is the 5960X and room for 64 GB of ram, it's considerably hard to go wrong. This brings me to the CPU, the i7-5820K. 6 cores at 3.3 GHz stock. This thing is easily overclocked to 4 GHz, and with my chip and current cooler, I've been able to get it stable at 4.3 with 1.212 volts. I know I can push it more, but I don't think I need it any higher and I am comfortable with my temps which brings me to the Phanteks PH-TC14PE. This thing is huge and comes in multiple colors for the best compatibility with themes like mine. The fans it comes with are silent with my case and have great airflow. My case is the Fractal Design R5 in white. This case is amazing. Plenty of room to route cables, clearance for my huge CPU cooler, has room for more drives than I'll ever need, and has great acoustics. Not to mention it's pretty. I think I'm in love. Speaking of drives, this happens to be my first expirence with SSDs, and man am I glad I got one. My main OS (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit if you were wondering) is snappier than ever before now. The Seagate 2 TB drive has done me well so far. The only problem is that I'm pretty sure it's the loudest thing in my system. The 500 GB drive has a Ubuntu 15.10 partition along with a partition for games. It came from my last PC (a Dell Precision T3500). The motherboard is fantastic. Overclocking is a breeze and, it being an Asus board, has all the bells and whistles that I need. Ram is ram, and this Corsair kit followed my color scheme and wasn't too bad of a price. A lot of these prices include tax which is a pain considering I live in the same state as an Amazon facility, and most of my parts came from Amazon. Prime is great though XD. The Asus GTX 970 STRIX is a great card. Very quiet and overclocked like a champ. I'm down to my final parts. The WiFi card is great, and I got it for an absolute STEAL of a price. That price is for a new card BTW. The Noctua fan seems a little out of place, but that is because I got the LinusTechTips edition of the fan. Those guys are great and have taught me pretty much everything I know about computers. The PSU is a nice, reliable PSU, but I will soon be upgrading it so I can't have more room for another graphics card or something of the sort. Sorry for the long description. I was very excited to finish this build after 3 years of saving, and I am very happy with the outcome. +1's and feedback are very much appreciated. Thanks for reading!
Great CPU for media creation and gaming. Overclocks like a boss!
I love this cooler. Not only is it very efficient, but it's pretty as well.
Spreads very nicely and cools better than the stock stuff.
Great motherboard. Comes with all the bells and whistles you'll need, plus the room for all the goodies the X99 chipset has to offer.
What can I say? Ram is still ram. Nice colors and performs well.
My first ever SSD, and man this thing is AWESOME. Lightning fast, and comes with all the advantages of no moving parts. Did I mention it's tiny?
Great mass storage device. A bit noisy.
Very quiet, cools efficiently, and overclocks well.
Very pretty. Great airflow, accoustics, and expanability.
Nice, reliable power supply. I don't mind the semi-modularity, and the cables are semi sleeved. Be careful though. If the black mesh sleeves are a problem for you, you might want to consider your options.
Wireless Network Adapter
Great card. Gets the job done, and I got it at a killer price.
Love this fan. Extremely quiet and provides lots of airflow.
