Description

So, finally remembered to share with PCPP this PC that was built in august 2017. Originally had RX 470 Nitro+ 8GB, but unfortunately it died. Got my money back, but due to mining craze was only able to get RX 560, which is OK, because now I have a son so I spend a lot less time playing games, and when I do, I mostly do it on PS4pro instead. Will replace anidees fans, as they don't spin under 1000rpm, therefore too loud for my taste when idling. Rest I'm pleased with. I also have 4k tv plugged in, and G29 mounted on Playseat Challenge for both PC and PS4, which I now rarely use because of my son running around.

Prices are what I paid for in my country, converted to usd.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Looks gorgeous, cools even better. Cools VRM too

Motherboard

OK board, no problems. Needs more fan headers and RGB options are limited to 7 colors total, no aura sync.

Memory

Doesn't go over 3066 in my system, but I needed low profile for cooler compatibility, anyway, pleased with these.

Storage

Best (cheapest) 500GB option I could find. I am not too demanding, suits me.

Storage

Big enough and cheap enough for me.

Video Card

Decent performer, but not strong enough for AAA games.

Case

I like it, with PSU on top looks different than regular PC cases of today. Layout gives clean front and top side. Not a lot of space for cables, but comes with GPU bracket, nice touch against GPU sag.

Power Supply

Perfect, 5/7, would buy again. Fully modular, switch for semi-passive fan mode.

Case Fan

Nice looking, nice air moving, but rpm range is high and narrow, 1000-1600. Wish they could go lower for more silence when idling.

Monitor

Good for the money, FreeSync and 144Hz. Colors washed out and screen is too bright, needs adjusting in OSD. VRR range is 48-144Hz out of the box, but there are beta drivers available to allow 30-144 range. Installing those can be pita, but still excellent results.

Mouse

After MX518 needed some adjusting to it, but later feels great.

Headphones

Nice all around, just plastic makes squeaking noises.

Now that the mining craze is over hopefully you can afford a better GPU now. Must suck to have your 470 burn out like that. Would be a good idea though to wait till the new cards get released by nVidia and wait for benchmarks of said cards to see if they are worth the hype.

Nice looking build!

Have been keeping my eye on Vega 56 ever since, but the prices are ridiculous even today.
