Description

You're probably wondering why I got a 4790k when the 6700k has been out for so long. I actually purchased most of this when the 6700k had just released, and I decided to get the 4790k. The reason I just posted this is that I finally got some decent pictures during a recent upgrade.

Building the computer
Everything went very smoothly. The R4 is a great case to build in.

Using the computer
The triple monitor setup is really fun to use. It's especially helpful when video editing or streaming.

I have yet to overclock anything, but I get great performance anyway. I figure I'll do it in a few years when it starts to fall behind.

The Asus monitor is amazing, by the way. 10/10, would recommend. I like how neatly my PS4 fits under it!

The G510S isn't mechanical, unfortunately, but the display is cool. It was a lot more useful when the time was only displayed on your primary monitor, since full screen games would hide it. Ever since the anniversary update though, all monitors have the time. So I just keep it for the RGB lighting ;)

Part Reviews

CPU

What can I say? It's an awesome CPU.

A bit obsolete now, with Skylake. But it's still good.

CPU Cooler

I love the design of the R1, and the color scheme fits well with my build

Motherboard

Great MOBO; plenty of fan headers (2x CPU fan headers), M.2, and nice color scheme

Memory

It's RAM. Nothing special. A bit expensive right now, although I got it about a year ago for around 40% less. (It's 97.88 USD at the moment)

Video Card

I love this cooler. It's probably my favorite GPU cooler of all time.

Only one issue: when shipping, the card was slightly damaged, causing one of the fans to hit the frame (the center fan hit the bars holding the Xtreme gaming logo). It wasn't too difficult to bend the frame back into place, but I'm disappointed this was an issue at all.

Case

I love the R4, great sound proofing, solid construction. Very nice case.

Monitor

Easily my favorite monitor of all time. Boarderless monitors are the ****.

AND it's 1440p 27"! FOR LESS THAN 400 USD (at the moment). What's not to like?

Mouse

Absolutely a steal at 33 bucks. The RGB lighting is great, cable is very nice. Not the best quality, but hey, it was 33 bucks.

Relative to, well, all speakers, they're certainly not pro studio monitors. But for ~20 bucks, they're decent!

Honestly I never use them for music. Mostly game sound and the occasional YouTube video. I should really invest in a nice amp and headphones, but too lazy and that'll be upwards of $200
