Description

Was looking to do a clean gaming build on a reasonable budget. After doing at least a month of research ( Thanks PCPartpicker! ), I feel like I pulled it off. Any questions, suggestions and general feedback are welcome.

Part Reviews

CPU

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Very solid cpu at a unbeatable price. Maybe that's why it's outselling Intel i5 9600k by a margin of 13-1

CPU Cooler

Sleek and gets the job done. Max temp I have seen is 72 in a stress test.

Thermal Compound

Seems to work.

Motherboard

Looks amazing. BIOS is easy to navigate (even for a newbie) Most recent update to 1405 was a bit of mess, thank God for google. Prior to update XMP showed 3600, afterwards it shows 2133. However, Ryzen Master does show the RAM at 3600...think that the UEFI for Asus is wacked. Hence the 4 stars

Memory

Looks great. Performs great. Not much else to be said

Storage

Boot Drive. Performs on par with the 970 EVO PLus

Video Card

My god this thing is massive! Very quiet, looks great. Crushes FPS for Tarkov, DCS, and anything else you can throw at it.

Case

Exceeded expectations so far. Was a bit worried about a pure negative pressure set up, but temps are fine so far. Might invest in a larger exhaust fan if its needed.

Power Supply

Hasn't blow up or melted anything.

Case Fan

Doubt I needed a push/pull setup, it's purely for aesthetics.

Custom

GPU sag is a real thing with that monster, and this has both form and function to handle it.

You mentioned getting a larger exhaust fan, any changes since?

Doesn't seem to need it. Temps have never been over 72 for the CPU and the GPU hasn't hit 70 yet.

Awesome build! I just ordered the same MoBo and CPU. Did you have to update the BIOS or did it work out if the box?

This will be my first build so I'm a little nervous about having to update the BIOS when the Ryzen 5 is the only CPU I'll have on hand. Thanks and again awesome build.

Thanks!! So. I did NOT have to update the Mobo in order to install windows. However, I did update it(BIOS) after windows, drivers, etc , were installed. This did cause some weird issues in trying to get the BIOS to locate the boot drive. Mind you I knew nothing about BIOS or building a CPU, and I was able to figure it out. I believe I just had to enable the CSM and if was fine after that. Since then I have had no issues what so ever. Good Luck!
