Hi everyone! this is a mini ITX not a micro, Micro would be for a Micro ATX . I screwed up when I created the title and it's too late to correct it!
I had wanted to create my own Mini ITX build for about a year and a half now and started designing this case and acquiring parts over that time. I started with the smallest parts I could get and wanted to cram all that in a case and have good temps and performance .
The parts are not the best out there but is what I could afford at the times I purchased them , I did some benchmarks and mostly concerned about temps and I was seeing 32C on the cpu temps at idle , I had a 120mm fan in the top of the case at first and I decided to redesign the top for a 140mm fan so I found this HD140 rgb off ebay used for 20.00 and I knew I did not have the rest of the Corsair fan and rgb controller to go with it but I am pretty good with RGB given what I do and I replaced the fans RGB strip for my own and wired it and the GPU backplate with addressable RGB all wired into a custom RGB splitter and being fed the RGB input with a remote control.
I added the TeamGroup Delta RGB memory and downloaded the Blitz software and was able to control them and the motherboards RGB and RGB header from it so I was able to get the light down .
For the storage I use an SSD for the operating system and added a Seagate pro laptop HDD that is 1TB with 128 Cache for storage all behind the motherboard tray which is vented for fresh air to stay cool.
The GPU was good for me and the price was right given the time I bought it and the GPU prices at that time! The GTX 1060 will play all my 1080P need with great FPS.
The bad thing during the build .... I had an I5-6600k CPU in it and I could not get the GPU to post, I swapped out every part in the case except the CPU and still could not get the GPU to work, I could get graphics with the motherboards HDMI output but hey who wants that... so I ended up RMA'ing the GPU which was new from EVGA , when I received the replacement GPU and put that in thinking that this was it the GPU still would not post... I thought to myself what could be wrong so I updated the BIOS of the motherboard to the latest and reste the CMOS and took out the MOBO battery just to make sure the cmos was reset. took the cpu out checked the cpu socket pins and there are perfect, reseated everything and booted it back up and stilllllll not GPU and the only thing left was to replace the CPU so I had this I5-7600K sitting here and put that in and the GPU worked perfect! This was the first time I have ever had a bad CPU but this one sure gave me a lot of grief ! I will put together a junk build later and test it in a new build with an old gpu and see if the issue with that cpu still persist before I 86 it!
the PSU... Take it from me to be cautious buying a psu unlike I did! I bought this Corsair SF psu , its a small form factor and when it came time to make cables for this psu I discovered that the psu 24 pin cable was actually a 10 pin and a 18 pin at the psu and into a 24 pin for the motherboard! it took me for ever to make that cable with all the double wires and they all crossed over each other. I then looked up on the net and found several small form factor psu's that had straight pin to pin 24 pin connections that I could have chosen over this one. the good thing about this corsair psu is that the fan does not spin unless the system hits a certain power drain or psu temp . oh and talking about temps the HD140 fan I put in the top really pulls a lot of air through the system so temps are good with this build.
