This build was an evolution of my very first PC build which was a FM2+ build that could only play a handful of games on there lowest settings. eventually after i got tired of playing at 30fps and lower i decided to add a dedicated gpu. not knowing much about PCs at the time i got the ALMIGHTY r7 240 which ended up being worse than the on-board graphics on my a10-6800k. Eventually i got rid of the case because of bad wire management and got a S340, along with an FX-8320 and a MSI 970 Motherboard. This all worked great made the build look 10 times better. longer ways down the road i got the Hue+, the h60, and and the new power supply to replace my CX430. After this point a couple of months went by and i had been saving up money to buy a new GPU and RAM so my build would finally be what i wanted it to be, and then it happened. my computer turned off and going back to turn it on there was no boot, but all of the lights and fans turned on so i thought it was my gpu. I had the money to buy i new one and the 980ti was on sale for only $400 so i ordered that and when it arrived i put it into the computer, still no boot. next up, CPU. I had thought it may be the CPU. Since my GPU didn't really match up that well with it i was all on getting a new one. It arrives!. Still no boot. So i have the PC taken to the local PC shop so they can do diagnosis overnight, and they ended up saying it was the motherboard, so i packed up my stuff ready to go home and order a new motherboard when i noticed that a couple of pins on my 2 day old 8370 had been bent. At this point i'm furious. I had just spent so much money just to get my PC back up and running AND YOU MESS UP MY CPU?!?! luckily the guy at the shop was able to bent the pins back and was super nice about it, put it into a test bench and it works. My motherboard arrives, I build the PC and Finally I give you, Aether. A PC 2 Years in the making.
Works perfect, very good price:performance
Super easy install, very low temps even on full load.
Its a motherboard... but with lights. M.2 on a 970 chipset is a +. Also lots of fan headers for good cable management.
Very fast boots even for HDD (22sec for me)
VERY power hungry (250w TDP). But got mine for $400ish so very impressed.
Love the simplistic look, cable management is impeccable, but if you even touch the window it scratches.
it didn't blow up.
Isn't windows 8.
