Description
Excellent gaming computer for only 500 dollars! Everything I bought was new except the GTX 1070 which can be bought for a mere $200 on Ebay! I also got another excellent deal at Microcenter getting an absolute steal of a Ryzen 5 1600 and a Gigabyte B450M Micro-ATX Motherboard for 110 DOLLARS. This PC absolutely crushes games. I have not tried 1440p yet on this PC yet (I don't have a 1440p monitor) but I can run pretty much any game I can throw at it with max settings at 1080p. I have a 144z monitor and I can use it well regularly getting over 144 fps on most games. For all the people on a budget trying to make a gaming PC if you have a Microcenter near you I definitely recommend getting the Ryzen 5 1600 as it is still $80 and with a compatible motherboard you get $30 dollars of that too! Also you can get used graphics card for VERY cheap now as their are many listings for 1070's around $200 and it is the perfect card to pair with a system like this! Since I was on a very tight budget at the time of building this I used the Rosewill FBM-X1 case, the cheapest case on the market with a side panel. I definitely recommend spending more and getting a better case than this one! This was my first time building a PC so my cable management was horrendous. I could've routed some cables through other holes in the back but I didn't notice them at the time. If you are going to build in this case consider spending a few more bucks on the power supply and get a semi or modular one as there is not much clearance in the back to stuff extra cables in. Another problem I had was using a full sized graphics card (I probably should've gotten a bigger or the mini version of the GTX 1070). After everything was in it was INCREDIBLY tedious and scary trying to get this graphics card in. I was afraid i'd knock a capacitor off the motherboard or break the graphics card. You have to fiddle around with it for a couple minutes to get it in position. You also have to put the 8 pin connector in the card before you slot it in as it is IMPOSSIBLE to plug it in after putting in the card due to the very small width of the case. Another thing is the Gigabyte B450M Micro-ATX board only has one 3 pin fan header. I had to buy a molex to 3 pin fan adapter to use the second fan near the front of the case. Other than that everything about this build i love.
Part Reviews
CPU
Works Great able to get it to 3.6 Ghz no problem and is excellent in games.
Motherboard
Great MOBO Does its job but it only has 1 3pin fan header so you can only use 1 case fan unless you buy a molex to 3 pin adapter for your PSU.
Memory
Does its job able to get it to 3000Mhz no problem in the bios.
Storage
I use this as a boot drive for my PC and it works great.
Storage
Does its job and stays relatively quiet.
Video Card
Great card. Can run all of my games at 144fps max settings on 1080p with it.
Case
You get what you pay for. The case is kind of hard to build in and cable managing can be a pain. Also if you try to put a full sized graphics card like me with my GTX 1070 it can be a struggle trying to fit it in the case, you also ha e to put the connector pins in first before slotting it in as it is impossible to do after due to the low clearance of the case.
Power Supply
It does its job and stays pretty quiet.
