At first, my grandpa had emachines (yuck!!!) desktop that come with AMD Dual Core processor, it came with 3GB DDR2 RAM and 320GB 7.2K Hard drive with SATA. He complaint about slow processing when he try to use internet, check email, MS Office 2013, and listen music. He came to my garage and he told me, "why my computer is slow???" I give his my idea, I showed him I made this list for him to see if he like it then he gave me $300 to try his first build.
I researched and figures out how to find cheapest and fast enough for his needs, I was planned to use AMD A6-5400 and MSI Grenade, but I dropped the part and went with AMD Athlon 5350 and Asus AM1M-A to give a try to see if it work well plus it should save him a power bills. Before I order the parts, I went to computer parts store and found this AMD 5350 and Asus AM1M-A were there at Providence Computer (http://providencecomputers.com/). So I decided to pick a list on paper with price, compare between online and this.
Here's list that I made: 1. AMD Athlon 5350 - 59.95 2. ASUS AM1M-A Micro - 69.95 3. Hynix 4GB DDR3-1600 - 39.95 4. DVD Drive - 12.95 5. Couger 6K with 400W PSU - 89.95
Compare to this pcpartpicker list. I know they are dirt price but at least it is not over 300 and they has them.
Bought the parts from store then went home and built it with my hand about 30 minutes to finish then manage the cable to tighten and neat with tie zippers. It was very odd that old computer hard drive I tried to move in new computer, it gave me bluescreen (it is Windows 7 Pro 64 bit), I figured it out it is because of new UEFI so I have spare Seagate 500GB 7.2K to install Windows 10 Pro on it then it work perfect and fast. All his data on old hard drive I plugged into SATA port and power while new computer is on, everything appear and I transferred whole documents, pictures, and many things on spare hard drive so the transfer speed was pretty fast about 90 MB/s to 120 MB/s.
At this time, I ordered Hyper X Fury Black 4GB DDR3-1600 it is coming soon. My grandpa was pretty impressive how fast these go with AMD 5350 and fast apps open. He is happy with new computer. He always told me that I am smart with computer stuffs. Of course.. LOL
Next build will be my grandma with same parts online instead of buy at Providence because it is dirt price so she had computer that been very old Windows 95, Intel Pentium, 64KB RAM, and 10GB IDE HDD. What's an very old these hardware! Even she used to go on internet with dial up but right now she use Verizon FiOS 50/50.
And also I will build for my parents with AMD A6-5400, MSI or ASUS Motherboard, same RAM and hard drive and different case with power supply.
For my parents and grandma's second and third build, not right now, probably few months later for them.
Comments and what do you think that is deal?
