This PC was made around my budget which is the main reason for my selection of parts , it runs games quite fast and i can push the graphics settings up a lot higher than i could on my old PC , although the video card gets extremely hot in the process , but it can handle most games i play. The CPU runs smoothly and it stays relatively cool , i think the biggest CPU usage i have had only took up 30% of the CPU and i think that the amount of ram and the video card kind of let it down. Overall it was a good first build , that i will be upgrading every chance i get , until of course it is out dated.

-EDIT- with the addition of another F12 fan i have significantly reduced the overall case temperature from 40 degrees to 27 degrees and the CPU went down by -9 degrees , but the biggest improvement was the video card which went down by 20 degrees!

-EDIT- i tried to overclock my CPU and GPU , i experimented with their voltage and clock rate etc. and i will be constantly changing them for the next week or so until i find a speed they can work at without getting me worried.

-EDIT- I dont know why i got an AM2 chip , i can barely upgrade this CPU and i could have easily got an FX chip for the same price, the graphics card was a bad buy aswell, hope fully an R9 390 soon.

Update! I have upgraded to windows 10, and i bought a second hand HD 6570. I have an RX 480 coming and i am hoping that Zen will be amazing!

Part Reviews

Hasn't let me down , it runs most games i play smoothly.

CPU Cooler

I can barely here it when i play and it keeps my CPU very cool

Has everything i needed to run all of my parts, but BIOS is slightly annoying

I dont know if it's just my motherboard or CPU but this ram gets locked at 1333 Hz

Unnecessary amount of space for my computer but it is good to have.

Video Card

I bought this card second hand for about £15, for that money it is very impressive and beat my GT 610 that i paid £40 for!

Has enough room for everything in my build but the fan that comes with it didn't work at all.

Power Supply

Getting this was extremely short sighted, for £5 more i could have got a PSU that would give me even more room to add on to my computer, this isn't modular in any way

Optical Drive

Does its job fine

Sound Card

sound quality is great , nothing bad here

Case Fan

I actually can't hear this fan , and the airflow is decent

Is the power suply truly full modular AND IS IT ANY DECENT

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 42 months ago

it is fully modular , it powers my PC fine but the fan is slightly dodgy, i would recommend going for something else

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 38 months ago

sorry to say but at the time i was a little confused by what modular meant, it is not at all. There is a lot of better PSUs you can get for around the same price

Nice build but why not go with an AMD A10 for better GPU and same CPU?

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 42 months ago

I would have gone with something like an A10 but that wouldn't fit my budget , and i would rather break a cheaper CPU on my first build than something more expensive :D

PyreUK6 1 point 42 months ago

You could have also saved money by buying an 8gb kit of ram instead of 4x2gb

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 42 months ago

yeah... that probably would have been a good idea , the ram is probably one of the first things im going to change about my build , im probably going to upgrade to an A10 aswell

Dual channel ram is actually better than a single stick. Now you have an 860k you may as well spend the money on a gpu and go for a 370 which is £100 at the moment. Better than the intergrated graphics on the A10 and for the same price.

Thats what i was starting to think , but i'm going to have to wait a while before i buy anything else for this.

I'm thinking of building something like yours, Can you tell me did the CPU and MoBo work out of the box or did you have to update the BIOS first?

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 2 points 41 months ago

They worked out of the box fine , i never had to update anything to get it running

That's great! thank you for the answer!!

Kinda wishing I went cheap with my build.

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 40 months ago

Tbh i think i should have spent atleast another £100 on it so i could have more upgradability

DTI466 1 Build 2 points 40 months ago

Well I initially wanted it to stay under $800 but I'll be lucky if it stays under 1k.

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 40 months ago

well, i hope it works out for you! :D

barclaybond submitter 1 Build 1 point 34 months ago

When i built this i had no idea what to do with computers, but now i can see what your saying. I ordered an RX 480 and im hoping zen will be amazing. Thank you!
